Warsaw GP Saturday 17th May

Recommended Posts

Morris certainly knows how to ruin a track.Seen a lot worse than what Freddie done but other riders did not lay the bike down.Brady taking lessons from Nicki P..There are lot of tougher moves in GP riding than one tonight.

my thoughts are they constantly overwater the track during the grading intervals .Track grade and a light sprinkle would surely be enough.

Pretty dull thus far.

You know it's been a bit dull when the commentators start talking about race times!

This is not confirmed yet, but some reports in Poland say Doyle has suffered an open fracture of the thigh. Fingers crossed these reports are wrong. 🤞🏻

Apparently broken leg as well, got a good angle from it and some people were sitting closer and speaking to them whilst walking back to the apartment they said there was blood everywhere.

Well I was there and obviously saw a completely different match

There was some decent racing and the atmosphere was brilliant

Maybe you needed to be there

Yeah, it was okay, certainly no classic, better than Landshut. Don't think the watering after heat 4 helped, that kinda wiped out the next 4 entertainment wise.

And congratulations to jack

Also there and half agree. It was a good experience seeing speedway in such a big stadium, but I wasn't blown away by the atmosphere. Poles are great when Bartosz is winning but it goes down a level for virtually anyone else, and there's barely any atmosphere at all when a Pole isn't involved. We've done Torun before and the atmosphere was better there.

Not a bad meeting racing-wise though - although no classics - and I enjoyed it overall.

Best wishes to Jason, nasty crash and he looked in a lot of pain.

I found Cardiff better watching it live than when I watched it on  TV as I said maybe to do with temp tracks .

Is PGE Narodowy a dry stadium? Didn't see much beer being partaken compared to what I saw some of the Poles putting away over the years at Cardiff.

Definitely not! There was plenty being drunk tonight (with no problems caused). We half wondered if the lack of a permanent club in Warsaw attracts more day-tripper/fairweather fans than Torun/Gorzow/Wroclaw's core fanbase? Who knows. Either way, it was probably still about 10x better than any British atmosphere I've experienced recently!

I agree to an extent. Sitting in G21 Green (bend two upper) you could see how the first 8 heats were poor and only inside was working. The racing got better after heats 12 with the outside working more. I said to my partner who is polish that it’s only about Zmarzlik in Poland, if he rides well then everyone is happy, but dead crowd when someone else wins (unless Polish but still not as loud). They don’t even clap whoever else wins… I don’t mind Zmarzlik, but was happy Dudek was the best pole tonight! Deffo didn’t want Holder to win but such is life! The laser show / fireworks were the best I’ve seen for an indoor event haha if that counts for anything!

Doyle will be done for the season I assume, unless he makes it back for play offs. He won’t get another wild card to SGP 2026 though. This could be him done for SGP.
Częstochowa already stated they can’t replace Doyle due to him not being classified last season, so they will be arguing probably about money just like Grudziądz so not great for him even when he recovers. I’m so gutted for him!

Ipswich won’t replace him, same as last year, who do you get? It’ll be RR and maybe guests (Scotty) at home.

2024 curse has started already people!

Don't think the watering made a difference to the track it seemed fine afterwards

Forgot to say best wishes to jason

Maybe they were British fans filling their home made programmes in before the race had finished  😂

You’d be surprised how many Polish fans had programme and filling them in! I couldn’t believe… I thought I’d just enjoy the meeting and after each 4 heats check on the phone who’s leading!
