Tigers v Aces

A big weekend for Kurtz with an excellent GP debut followed by a very important meeting in Poland for Wroclaw on the Sunday...

All the 3 GP riders over the two meetings today had defeats to riders who you wouldn't expected....

The UK season starts in August so a long time to get things sorted...

The Aces will finish either 2nd or 3rd so will face Sheffield regardless of which position is which...

(And that is without making up the semis to suit financially)..😁

Understood mate Ty :)

Somewhat of a walloping this - Belle Vue need to be better - Kurtz was pretty woeful as he can be here. Tigers really have hit the right formula with both Rowe and Flint finally showing what they can do! Not often Chris is the lowest scorer either!

Is this about qualifying for the play offs or winning every meeting?

Today’s performance will see us qualify as we beat you once and you beat us once. 2 points each with a solitary point going your way as a bonus.

Have you not seen how the play offs work? It’s survival of the fittest, which usually isn’t us so reserve your excitement for when an injury ravaged Aces team get defeated. Pop those champagne corks guys.

Injuries should not concern you, just get Robert Lambert over.

I can’t rise to this as much as I’d love to! Explanation below:

1. I gave £25 to Ben fund when the walk was taking place.

2. I gave £20 to save Coventry bees fund.

3. I gave £15 to Belle Vue fund vs Sheffield earlier :D

i have helped the three charities in need already!

Played out pretty much how people thought it might of except the poor performance of Kurtz at Owlerton was a surprise.

solid scores 1-7 from Sheffield which is a huge positive going forward. Chris and Jack looked abit down on power tonight the track seemed a lot slower then the 3 previous meetings, all the same though a fantastic heat 15 from Jack and Picko. Bewley was very fast too real quality from him.

the national league meeting provided some entertaining races especially the ones involving Rushon and Cairns, these 2 will go far in the sport

i also thought it was about the supporters.

Are you saying that Belle Vue will only do enough to qualify for the play offs, so supporters who pay money to watch meetings can expect more of the same.

if so why should supporters bother attending anything but play off matches?

The fans yesterday went home extremely happy after the last race win, so yes more of the same please.
What happens away is largely irrelevant as fans don’t travel anymore, including me.
For The Aces as with most teams you win some you lose some away from home. If you can supplement your home wins with the odd win or bonus here and there then you’re in the play offs.
It’s every teams goal to do enough to make the play offs. Your last sentence is on the money as unfortunately many fans now do just that.

Didn’t expect the meeting to be that one sided.

Sheffield rode pretty solid from 1-7, as has been said earlier both Holders looked slower than usual, Pickering was his usual Owlerton 2025 self, Rowe again picked up good points unsure if he got a knock on the arm when Flint didn’t look who was behind him in Ht8 and unintentionally fenced him, Sedgmen a lot better than his afternoon performance and the Kerr/Flint reserve combo outstanding again.

As for Belle Vue Lemon must be scratching his head, does he leave the 1-7 as it is or make a change(s).  Bewley did his job looking ultra quick on a couple of races, Zischke did well for his first visit, think it helped him there was an outside line as that seems to be his go to style, Mulford was always going to struggle against the in form Sheffield reserves, but the combo of Kurtz, Blodorn, Lidsey and Cook scoring 15 from 16 rides was shocking, Kurtz especially poor as he basically rode at Owlerton for a season when guesting for Simon Stead so knows his way around the place, thought he was on for an Audi badge at one point.
As other posters have said scores in May mean nothing come October, Sheffield have turned Belle Vue over in the league meetings on many occasions but failed in the important ones at the end of the season, hopefully that curse can be lifted this season.
