Bitza Posted yesterday at 10:10 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:10 PM Well good result, but apart from Rocket Man, no Pirate really showed any class more a matter of the Bandits being a bit of a shambles. OK Zac did score well but only from the front. Smartie ended up with a good score but only because he was in just about every race. Anders has a medical excuse. Kerr was OK but no real pace and poor Ritchings left stage left through no fault of his own. So my point is Poole need to get much better if they are going to teams like Glasgow.

I would pretty much agree with all of that,Kerr went backwards as night went on,Zach had one of his best meetings and actually rode like a heatleader. As for the Rocketman well again dominant a pleasure to watch. think it’s going to be tough vs Glasgow next week as Anders doesn’t look 100%,and Cairns 1st meeting I’d take a 46-44 now. Kemp had an off night last night, while Kildermand would have scored more than Leon. Berwick reserves picked up their points due to Poole riders falling so result could have been worse.

One slight concern this yr is crowds are definitely down, peak holiday period to come tho We probably are not the team to beat at the moment with one or two riders misfiring but I am sure all will come good for the business end of the season. I have criticised Kerr and had my doubts about him before the season started but lately he has been better and has shown better form for Sheffield. Anders has been terrific from the start, we can excuse a slightly off performance just coming back from injury. Zach has not been on top form for the Pirates and I have seen claims it is because his best equipment has been elsewhere but last night was better and we know from the past he will be on top form when it matters. A new clutch for Zach last night!! In any case the engines he uses in the wide open spaces at BV are far too 'strong' for the Poole track! old bob at herne bay
Poole fans not happy with only a 20 point win !! OK they were lucky that Ritchings was taken out early doors and they had the benefit of running Starkers (Harbourmaster Champignon) for extra rides. That number 7 slot seems to be a problem for Muddleditch and Foord to fill ..... they have Billy Cairns on standby when he turns 16 I think? Must be better teams this year to beat Poole ?
Steve Shovlar
Easy win for Poole at half throttle, certainly in the second half of the meeting. Richings very unlucky. Smith wobbled and fell in front of him, he had to let go of his bike and it looked like it hit the airfence then bounced back into him. Smith should clearly have been excluded but all four back. End of Richings night. But one things for sure. He has shown enough to be picked up straight away and will have no problem finding a team place elsewhere. Better than the majority of number 7’s I have witnessed this season. Lawson on fine form. Heat one was a classic. The rest have been documented here already. A tougher test in two weeks time. Smith had already had a nudge from Smarte before he clattered into Ritchings. Upon reflection my first comment on last night's meeting was a bit harsh, the track particularly turn 4 looked difficult to ride and the relatively slow race times seemed to support that. I just would like to see more racing from our riders.

Losing Ritchings early was bad luck not good luck, Starke looked knackered at the end. Ritchings has been doing well.
