Berwick v Workington 28/06/25 Championship

Recommended Posts

Bandits welcome Workington to Shielfield hoping to continue their run of home league wins. For the Bandits Kyle Howarth is back again, this time guesting for Craig Cook who is on a mandatory 7 day ban due to non speedway illness. Workington are at full strength so this will be a first time visit for Fraser Bowes. Again this has the makings of a close meeting and with former Bandits Etheridge & Hook in their ranks Workington will be hoping to keep it close. Bandits need to start looking at 50+ scores at home if they want to start accumulating bonus points in order to make the playoffs. My prediction if Hagon and Hume repeat last weeks performance's 51-39.

Bandits: Kyle Howarth, Sam Hagon, Danyon Hume, Drew Kemp, Peter Kildemand, Dayle Wood, Jack Smith

Comets: Troy Batchelor, Fraser Bowes, Tate Zischke, Antti Vuolas, Jye Etheridge, Jacob Hook Vinnie Foord

Reserve’s could be the factor in this meeting.

Meeting off

𝗕𝗦𝗣 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧: 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗢𝗡 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗪𝗔𝗬
Within the last 48 hours the Directors of British Speedway Promoters Ltd have become aware of administrative issues that must be resolved before Workington Speedway can compete again.
A seven-day suspension of membership has been imposed on Workington Speedway to give them time to overcome these issues.
Said BSP Chairman, Rob Godfrey: “We are happy with the progress being made by the Club in sorting these issues and I anticipate that there will be a speedy resumption to racing at Workington.”
The suspension does mean that Workington’s matches at Berwick on June 28, Oxford on July 2 and Redcar on July 4 will be postponed.

That'll be that then

Let's hope everything gets sorted out and Workington are back next week.

Just goes to show working holidays around speedway isn't the best idea (Workington fans with hotels booked). I also delayed our holiday for a couple of days (when booking) so ironically if Berwick have a match on 12th (was originally due at Oxford), I will still be on holiday.

Take it the BSPA will financially compensate the Berwick promotion and any Berwick or Workington fans who lost money as a result of the very short notice cancellation of the fixture.

Thought not.

Without knowing the underlying reason what makes you think BSPL had any option but to suspend Workington's licence?

Workington promotion should do that imo. They are not going to be suspended for no reason.
