Then add a couple of likely - or perhaps unlikely - lads already involved in speedway and you’re getting there Are they well funded ? DaveWayne
4 hours ago, noaksey said: The money for Coventry is being put up by the stock car people isn't it? The consortium looking to buy the stadium and bring it back is made up of 5 business men. 4 of them are very much stock car people, but the 5th - John Whalley - is a name I don't recognise from stock car circles. 2 of the stock car people are the partners involved in the Yorstox company, so I would imagine they would take on the stock car promotion if Coventry returned, but somebody would still be required to promote the speedway side of things. YeOldPitGate
As an aside something was bugging me earlier today I was trying to remember the name of a danish rider from a few years back apologies details will be sketchy as this was a period when I had drifted away I wasn't really following speedway apart from the odd sky meeting. This rider would have been a promising Danish youngster it was around the time Jepsen Jenson signed for Peterborough this lad I think might have turned up on the scene a year later. I have a feeling he rode as reserve in a world team cup meeting for Denmark I thought it might be Michelson but I'm pretty sure its not he was a rider who many thought was destined for big things but seems to have disapeared but he was around that time when Jepsen jenson and Michelson were coming through. Apologies for lack of detail but I will recognise the name if anybody has a clue who i am on about it could be it is Michelson but I'm 90% sure it isn't but the name eludes me at the moment. Hackett
Did not think this would get to the starting tapes due to the costs involved. Great to see a new track and hopefully for the longterm. Good luck to the Northampton Nomads / Bees / Badgers / Foxes / Wolves / Saints Wonder what kevlar colours green black and gold / claret and white ??? Hopefully they can promote it well and build up a solid fanbase.
Zagarmeister
Just want to say what fantastic news! Can't wait to visit as it's not too far from Norfolk. It is a team of gating tarts though :)
old bob at herne bay
Good luck to the Cobblers …. Let’s hope they might attract some former Panthers fans back to the sport . Should get somenovelty value of fans from nearby Leicester, Ippo and Lynn taking a look at the track for the first time… but spectator facilities look pretty spartan standing on grassy banks on a cold evening. Memories of freezing on the grassy slopes of the Arena Essex racebowl.

My mind goes to 2 riders: Mikkel Bech, who has already been mentioned Jesper B. Jensen who later changed his name to Jesper B. Monberg, and who won the 1997 World Under 21 Championship. Pinny
Mikkel Bech was around MJJs time but was never on his level although he thought he was. he was about at the time there was loads of young danish prospects like MJJ, bach, larsen, kildemand etc. didnt Bech end up at plymouth and use them as a convenient cash cow when he could be arsed? good luck to a new club opening up. Hopefully the backers have deep pockets.

WookieboyDon
Can't wait to see @R87 thoughts on Northampton opening, considering he spent the majority of the last year telling anyone that would listen that we will NEVER see a new team open up again in the UK, the optimist that he is!! Willing to give credit where it is due @R87 ???!!! Or will silence be golden? 2 1
