Nowadays with the modern bikes not a chance of that happening, i cant comment here as i didnt see the track but as some wanted to ride and others didnt i would imagine the referee would go with the majority? Those were the days and it separates the men from the boys. Sawdust, overalls, racing and the track comes good. Today no chance. Wimps the lot and it shows the contempt they have for the punter. Not even willing to give it a try and how many times in years gone by have riders put in some effort to race and then justify calling it off. Today not even a wheel is turned. It sums up why the sport has no credibility.

I remember going down to Wimbledon in horrible weather and seeing a good meeting, modern day machinery wouldnt be able to handle the conditions, though according to reports there were riders willing to give it a go at Sheffield.

If it was Testimonial they would have pottered round and took the fans money though.Dont leave the house if there is a cloud in the sky these days.

Fromafar
Why do the riders not go out individually and do a few slow laps and turn the dirt over then grade the track again.?
Daniel Smith
Promoters can't win can they?!? King's Lynn get blasted for calling off the day before based on a forecast, Sheffield get blasted for trying to get a meeting on. I know which situation is far worse by the way, it's not calling it off the day before. Just saying 👍🏻
Manifesto
100% that track was raceable by 8pm. After a downpour the track staff did a great job with it took the wet layer off looked fine. Not one bike was warmed up which tells you everything you need to know. Riders dictating. once more it’s the fans that suffer, and also the sport. Talking to a father and son on way out it was only their 3rd meeting can you honestly blame them if they never came back? I won’t be attending again this season Edited 1 hour ago by Manifesto

Sheffield out and Lynn with a return to the play offs 😂 can’t manage your own fixtures with half the season not riding at home then face the consequences! Didn’t this Shhht happen at Sheffield when other meeting at Lynn was called off the day before and everyone moaned but then people actually got to Sheffield, waiting, and got cancelled! When do you suggest they should have run it then ? Looking at both team's fixtures, either one or both were riding every Thursday from the start of April to today, other than May 8th and May 29th when there were no Premiership matches at all. Didn't Lynn also get dog's abuse for calling off a meeting the day before and all the experts on here saying the forecast rain didn't come and the track would have been perfect ? The forecast for Sheffield in the late afternoon was for light rain and none after about 6pm so in theory the meeting could have gone ahead. There was a torrential downpour just after 6 which made the track unrideable and the track staff did everything they could but not all the riders were happy to race so the ref called it off. How is any of this the fault of the Sheffield promotion ? How long is the journey from Ipswich to Sheffield ? 3.5 to 4 hours on a good run ? Assuming nobody wants to risk getting there at the last minute, I would guess most fans would be setting off between 2pm and 3pm. Do you expect them to be psychic and call it off 3 hours before it has even rained ? I would say that it is likely it won't need to be run anyway. If Ipswich win at home next Thursday then the playoffs will be sorted without this match.
