Sheffield Tigers Vs Ipswich Witches - Thursday 28th August

Recommended Posts

Comparing Emil pulling a fast one as the the same as Kurtz is laughable

Brady turned up in an all or nothing match for his team and didn’t bother trying

Emil not turning up for a match that means nothing to Ipswich is not even comparable

We all know Emil has priorities elsewhere coming up and I doubt he is ill….

If he did this in the final I would be annoyed like Kurtz did

All this not blaming the rider is BS in my opinion, the likes of Sayfutdinov & Kurtz always hold the cards, there's no way their clubs are going to drop them while they're still scoring the points and even if they did they'd be a queue of other clubs wanting to sign them.

It's time they stood up and showed some integrity!

Sayfutdinov should definitely receive a nice 28 day ban... and miss the pay off final 😁

Maybe Sheffield should have completed their home matches before the cut off date, plenty of opportunity to do so.

Also had they completed them & done Ipswich in both round 2 matches they would have finished top & taken on Belle Vue in the semi.

I can’t see them banning Emil for not riding in a meeting that by their own rules should have been completed before the play offs started.

It’s just another example of the piss poor state this sport is in.

The original fixture was 28th August. It was rained off. The rearranged match the following week was rained off. When do you suggest they should have held it ? Should they have looked at a long range forecast in June and pulled it forward ? Blaming Sheffield for the weather is laughable.

Are you going to be calling for a ban then?

A ban for what exactly

If riders can provide a sick note they get away with it

Lawson did it last night and rides tonight

I don’t believe Emil is poorly but he might be

Id much rather my rider didn’t turn up for a meeting that didn’t matter then turn up for the clubs biggest meeting of the season and not try

Lawson avoided the fuel checks last night.

why anyone would tip off riders that there will be checks I never know. Ridiculous

also you talk some crap about Emil,

Unless a buyer can be found it may be the last time for anybody at Sheffield.

No Oxford and no Birmingham already, you would suspect that the writing is on  the wall for the Premiership in this country regardless of what happens to Sheffield

The night Kurtz didn’t try apparently, he scored 4 points , away from home , on a cow patch. The same night Ipswich number one Emil , scored exactly the same. Wasn’t he trying too ? Or did he have them ongoing stomach problems he obviously suffers from ???

Tbf to Emil. He scored 5 points. Not 4. So was a good meeting from him

He "cannot gate" seemingly was the reason given on here by Ipswich fans...

Dan Bewley has the same problem apparently hence he could only match Kurtz's score, again, according to Ipswich fans....

They have both done so amazingly well therefore to be such high achievers in a sport where starting is absolutely paramount...

Imagine how good they would be if they could start?😉

I presume Dan must have been really, really lucky in last years final to make so many starts and win so many races...  😁

Let's just hope Emil makes a swift and complete recovery...

the other riders are so he should really follow suit?

At the end of the day we all know that Poland call the shots regarding letting their contracted riders ride over in the UK, no doubt his Polish side didn't want Emil risking getting injured again and missing important matches considering he was injured at Sheffield last yr, and as long as we keep playing second fiddle to Poland this will always happen simply as that if we like/agree with it or not.

There are 24 weeks from the beginning of April to the end of August to fit in 12 home fixtures. We have just come through a record breaking dry hot summer so no reason that fixtures should be pencilled in so close to cut of date. Especially with the SPON taking place this weekend & not the height of summer as normally happens.

I am not blaming Sheffield for the weather but the club/fixture planners need to take ownership for the reason we are running league after the play off final teams have been confirmed.

Nobody knew that we were going to have a record breaking dry summer when they were planning the fixtures. From the start of the season to the date of the original fixture, there were only 3 Thursdays where neither Sheffield or Ipswich had a match, and one of those was the day before the British GP. I doubt anybody looking at the fixtures at the start of the season was concerned that a meeting in August Bank Holiday week was likely to be rained off.

So what are you suggesting ? All league fixtures should be programmed for April to July, leaving August free to cover any rearrangements ? Then we potentially have a whole month of nothing prior to the playoffs. That will really build up the excitement.

I’ve mentioned at the start of the year that many tuners have refused to help Emil this season in England for some reason, unbeknown to me. It was mentioned in Polish media back in April and he has had a poor season all year in England but good in Poland so it would kind of be in line with the theory. He has had a really up/down season compared to the last two.
