spin king junior
Exactly what speedway needs. Some fresh young blood to bring the sport into the new age. Welcome aboard Arry, I'm sure you won't look lost amongst the crowd.
Hawk127
Who knows what the publicity brings to the sport. He knows some influential people and if it is true , he might just reignite interest in the UK. Nothing to lose really if you have an high profile name lend it to the sport. At this stage no point in knocking it.

Well, David Rodwell is a "business consultant" with a motorsport background. His current company https://www.extratime.app/ has an app that "Gives sports fans VIP access to their favourite sports stars behind the scenes" Jamie Dobb is an ex-motocross 125cc World Champion from 25 years ago. Why do you ask?
Daniel Smith
19 minutes ago, mikebv said: No way did he say all that ... T'riffic..... Exactly. It read like AI had written it. We had the "0-60 faster than an F1 car" line. "No brakes, risking life & limbs" line etc. The idea is to increase a more youthful culture within the sport. Yet, here we are again, wheeling out a near 80 year old where anyone under 25 probably only knows this guy for 'I'm A Celebrity'. Surely, surely, surely, there must be recently retired football players / managers out there that have some spare cash to throw about? We've tried Celebrities in the recent past & it didn’t even create a ripple. Keith Flint (rip fella) & Mark Webber. Also John McGuinness & Carl Fogerty from the biker world, not a ripple to help the sport. It could be a foot in the door to Premier League Football but I'm not convinced his contacts would be recent enough. We absolutely need to try & get our fingers in to Football, Formula 1 & Pop Music, absolutely First & foremost, British Speedway is absolutely desperate for modern facilities but, even looking at Belle Vue's, the numbers coming in are terrible considering their location & upturn over the last couple of decades of inner city upgrades. The toughest thing for Speedway is, that absolutely everyone don't know what they want. From promoters to still attending fans, most have zero will &/or ideas to move this sport forward in this country.

noaksey
I've never known Redknapp to mention speedway, I've never seen him at Poole or any other track for that matter Perhaps he's introducing Bet Victor as the new League sponsors... I don't know if you remember but British Speedway had a tie in with some kind of celebrity talent agency for a year or two back in the 90's, you could say that they were somewhat ahead of their time with the age of celebrity we now live in but as usual it was done on the cheap so we had Hinge & Bracket at Wolverhampton once and my other abiding memory was some Marilyn Monroe lookalike on the podium with Andy Smith when he won one of his British Championships inexplicably 🤷♂️

Why do you ask? Shareholders in Speedway Futures Ltd Along with Paul Mullaly, Vicky Blackwell, Miriam Bentley, Jason Holmes - do these names mean anything to you? [There are other shareholders with whom I am familiar including Neil Clayton, Phil Morris and Nicola Jamieson]
HGould
Vicky Blackwell is the personal and business partner of Rob Painter who seems to be a Director of Speedway Futures ltd. Both have done outstanding work as creators of Team GB Speedway since taking it over.
IainB
30 minutes ago, HGould said: Both have done outstanding work as creators of Team GB Speedway since taking it over. Have they? They take British riders away from league fixtures on a regular basis to go and finish well down the finishing order on the continent and have only staged 2 Test Matches (both at Glasgow) in the last 5 years. They've failed to get any kind of exposure since twice winning the SoN and the only chance the fans get to hear of what's going on is by following them on social media that seems more interested in pushing the wares of their sponsors and running some kind of lottery. Yes, they're doing a better job of running the GB Speedway Team than their predecessors but you have to ask to what end?
