They have a successful football club, the most successful English rugby team, the most successful Basketball team, Netball champions and county cricket to compete against for attendance, sponsorship money, and local media content. Ipswich, Kings Lynn and Poole do not have these issues. Leicester are currently placed fifth or sixth in the local market. The Leicester urban area has about three times as many people as the wider Ipswich area (approx 550,000 compared to approx 180,000). Leicester is in the East Midlands, with access to much more industry and business sponsorship opportunities. Interestingly, LCFC and ITFC attract very similar home attendances. To be honest, there’s no real comparison to make - very different parts of the country, with very different circumstances.

It is one small potential piece of light at the end of the tunnel in terms of rider availability I would suspect however that Josh was banking on 2 UK incomes and his demands if there is only 1 (and that 1 offering only half as much as the expected 2nd) may be different in future - particularly if rider availability is scarce..... That’s in the future for riders .This mess needs sorting out first. How they had been talking for months previously and it comes to this is unbelievable in what is meant to be a professional sport. They must have thought the TV deal was going to be extended and all their eggs were in that particular basket?

The Oxford decision was I believe unexpected with them indicating in those talks in all the months previously that they intended to carry on on the Premiership right up until they made the announcement that they wouldn't.... The Championship regs and limits were probably preliminary agreed on that basis hence the full steam ahead with team building despite no AGM If so that leaves much less time to look at the alternatives
