Extraleague 2026 R 5 Fri/Sun 8th/10th May Live on TV

I'd rather have a close scoreline gate fest then a 30 point smack job if I'm to look on the positive side.

No shame in Gorzow losing to Wroclaw as they're title favourites for a reason.

Pollestad Man of the Match for me, Gorzow have a gem in him.

Close meeting, but way off a classic.

It's what Jeopardy and Consequence brings to a sporting occasion...

The Wroclaw fans, management, and team, will be ecstatic...

The Gorzow fans, management, and team, will be gutted..

But the fans of both teams in attendance would have walked away thinking "What a great meeting and atmosphere"..

If only we had something even half the same over here...

Hope springs eternal!!!

Enjoyed that tonight despite the lack of passing. As a neutral you could easily sense the tension with the closeness of the scoreline.

Great to see a good passionate crowd.

I've said before the best advert for British speedway would be to get the rights to the Extraliga and give it to ITV2 or even BBC red button

I'm sure British Basketball and Ice Hockey benefit from NBA and NHL being broadcast.

Of course you have to have a product that is vaguely similar if you're going to retain any spectators generated....

Have only seen results but Częstochowa are an embarrassment to the league.  Wroclaw reserves will cost them the title.  Kowalski! being meeting winner where Laguta, Kurtz & Bewley failed is surprising.  Enterprising use of Pollestad will see Gorzów battle 5th spot with Leszno. Paluch injured?

Barely anyone would watch it tbh.

Only a handful of members on here watch the Polish Leagues whilst interacting with other fans on this thread.

It seems there is some sort of protest at the Zeilona gora v grudiadz match on Sunday, a section of falubaz fans are boycotting the match and grudiadz fans have agreed to boycott it too in solidarity, from what I understand it’s about ticket prices being the most expensive and also fans wanted to add something to the stand and the club took it away,I assume this is the section of fans that stand in the middle of the first corner

You'd hope that the broadcaster would market it. Afterall they're after advertising revenue via viewing figures.

That's all the sports channels do. Some of their content is shall we say ordinary but they push it as if it's the best thing since sliced bread. My niece worked for Warner Bros so was involved in TNT marketing campaigns. They know most of their stuff is filler in between football but they still want to retain the viewers so they hype stuff up.

The thing with the Extraliga is you can hype it as the best speedway league in the world with all the best riders and best stadiums and that's what you'll get. Sure it would be better if there was more British riders but the fact that two of the best are is a plus.

Have a look at the ITV4 schedule on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There's loads of random bits of live sport in between reruns of Minder and the like. Copa del Ray Final tonight. That demographic is bound to include people who used to like the speedway and didn't realise it's still going.

Gotta be better than having zero TV presence at all.

Totally agree. The fact is that many riders participate in different leagues and if you can see the likes of Dan Bewley riding well in Poland and they see him on ITV 4 and it is mentioned that he also rides in the UK then floating followers may seek out where he is riding.
It use to work in days gone by when if you knew where an Olsen or Gollob were riding in the UK then you would turn out to see them. It applied to many other riders and that was the beauty of international meetings and top individual meetings that use to take place in the UK.
It is not impossible to recreate a similar scenario to the Daily Mirror World classic Series that took place many years back but it takes vision and sponsorship. Most speedway followers would turn out in serious numbers to watch an international meeting in the UK involving Poland, Australia and the UK particular if the likes of Dudek et al turned up. The trouble is no one can bring together the sponsorship and the T V rights to make it a success.
Poland dominates the current era of top class speedway and to show it on UK terrestrial TV might just ignite a new following that the sport so badly needs in this country to raise the profile.

The cost is the most expensive ticket in all of the league, they are charging 120 złoty when other clubs charge 45 złoty. A big difference for the Polish fans, Falubaz fan club have decided to attend Thursdays meeting but to wear all black in protest, Grudziądz are also potentially joining the protest.

Managed to watch about 5 heats of Gorzow v Wroclaw. Dreadful.  I assume Czestochowa humiliation in Lublin isn't worth watching?
