redcar racing bears v Poole FTG pirates

Recommended Posts

Just caught up with the stream. Another good performance from the boys lining us up nicely for the treble on Wednesday night. Let’s hope the wet weather predicted holds off. Though next Friday is predicted dry.

Charles Wright the meeting winner for Redcar. His best performance against us this season? Some of the Poole boys looked tired. Not surprising after the night before.

Think it was a hell of a performance considering the pressure cooker atmosphere of less than 24 hours earlier at Glasgow and the effort put in to win the League Play off. Can you imagine winning the FA Cup/Prem Lge or similar and having the players turn out 24 hours later for another final.

Riders etc had little time to prepare bikes & set ups  etc bearing in mind the also  3.5 hour drive from Glasgow assuming the riders didn't even touch home base most likely after the celebrations of Friday. Would have been happy even with an 8 point defeat after all that. No surprise some had a few mechanical gremlin after all that.

Fortunately a good few days to recover and sort out any issues and set ups for Wed last math of the season.

Very wet today and tomorrow, so if they manage to run on Weds I'd expect the track to be on the damp side. Which could help Redcar.

I dont think you can compare the physical differences between sports but it was a good performance although the riders did not seem to be all guns blazing. Redcar have been a good team all season but certain riders have dropped off a little probably due to having to cope with Riss missing most of the season.

Kerr was unlucky not to get heat 15, he was beaten once all night on his favourite track. Lawson was poor by his high standards and should have been left out.

Yes Poole don't like it wet. Better take some dirt off the track to prepare for the forecast wet conditon on Wednesday afternoon (according to the Met Office for Poole)

Or maybe an early call off to wait for sunny conditions. ??

Where does this Poole don't like it wet come from?

I've seen Poole win away when track was wet and home team weren't interested but Poole got stuck in 🤷

Says in the SS that we not moving up until we have a bit more of a guaranteed long term future at the stadium.

BCP really ought to be right behind proactively securing Wimborne Road for the future of the Pirates, one of the areas premier assets that puts Poole on the map.

Looking forward to our last meeting of the season, hope it can go ahead on Wednesday.

As Victor Meldrew would say " I don't believe it" .

Much more likely is no desire to risk running on any other night but Wednesdays. Would be business suicide and fully understandable. Wednesday night in Poole is speedway night. Crowds would evaporate on any other night, in whichever league Poole participated.

I am sure you have, away performances not the issue this week.

Was referring more specifically to the HOME fixture this Wednesday when Poole may face a wet wimborne road.  They will take some dirt off and pack it down hard so you might get a meeting on ..... ?

Good grief man no dirt will be taken off. There is shale on the track but it gets packed in hard after each meeting so any rain runs off it.

Last week I did question why it wasn't ripped up as usual and the answer was Poole team didn't want the track like that.

Not saying it's right or wrong just how I saw it.

Redcar as the legendary boxing promoter Don King used to say have 2 chances. Slim and none and slim is outta town!

Poole surely have to move up next season a new challenge see if they can do it again in the top league.

Hugely unlikely they are already getting decent crowds and not much attraction of increasing costs by a third in a league of possibly another 4 or 5 teams, plus if they end up with the three super talented youngsters Cairns, Rushden and Bailey next season if those three can crack on they will bring in the crowds.

I haven't been to Poole but the only worry I would have if the one line blue groove quotes are true is its not the kind of track that would suit out and out racers like Rushden and Bailey.

There can be a blue groove on the inside of bend one as a meeting progresses, but this is usually in the hotter, drier days of summer, which Poole have more than their fair share of. Rushden has put in some decent times when he's done some after meeting laps and when he did the Harbour Masters meeting.
