Some Promoters just haven't got with the times and it's backfired on the Sport as a whole. Wouldn't you agree that if the rumours are true that Chris will pull Ippo if there's no Prem, is as bad as Ford wont move up because he will make less? Have been out for an 18th, but i don't think i'm wrong

Not sure how long you've been a speedway follower, but Poole won everything there was to be won in the Elite/Premiership days and benefitted from very good sponsorship which helped to fund the likes of the Holders, Kurtz, Ward etc. However they latterly were losing money, and were let down 'big time' by a sponsor mid-season. They asked the fans what they preferred - Premiership on Mons/Thurs or Championship on their traditional racenight of Wednesdays? The latter was the resounding result and as Matt Ford stated publicly at the time, allowed the club to cut its operating costs by around 30%. Since then the club has been 'ticking over' as Danny Ford reported only last week!

Poole have been far more successful and probably viewed as a bigger club than Oxford in recent history, so Oxford not making it work isn't strictly relevant to whether Poole could. Ben91 Posted yesterday at 10:33 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:33 AM When Poole decided they couldn’t sustain top tier racing that should have been a huge red flag to the rest of the sport. For the best part of the last couple of decades they’ve been the standard bearers of British Speedway.
THE DEAN MACHINE Posted yesterday at 10:51 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 10:51 AM Imo everything will be sorted by end of next week and January AGM will be just be to rubber stamp it, also imo they will chose the wrong path but heyho I’m just one of those plebs expected to pay for it

If there is a last minute 6th Premiership team I'd not expect it to come from within the 9 Championship teams I actually think that's the best way forward at this stage What is imperative though is that the details for 2027 (and surely it will then be the radical change) is agreed and set in stone prior to 2026 starting Ideally that plan should also be made public 2

PersonalResponsibility
Very, very concerning news for British speedway you'd have to say. Even more than that, losing someone like Chris Louis is a big blow to the sport. If one of the few progressive, forward thinking promoters, who's family have been involved for 70+ years sees enough to make him want to sell up...I dread to think what the outcome will be. JamesB
Clearly something major has happened around the BSPL table. I fear that this may be the end of speedway in Ipswich but hopefully not. To lose a club that has probably the largest attendance's in the country and no threats to losing the track or stadium would be criminal.

TTT
Don't think it's going to be the last Club to release a statement either. British Speedway is in a whole that it simply can't get out of.
WookieboyDon
This is not good for speedway in this country...in any way, shape or form. In fact, this now moves the situation to dire IMO. An outside of the box, forward thinking and progressive promoter now no longer wishes to stay at the table. "Some things no longer align for me..." That line tells you all you need to know. 😔
JamesB
Louis walking away has to tell you that speedway in this country is in a lot of trouble.
