But what makes it a successful entity to sell on?

John Berry sold what would be described as a highly successful promotion to Chris Shears, who proceeded grind it into non-existence.

However well CL built his promotion and the teams that achieved successes, the new promoter(s) will effectively have to start from scratch ...

They will, although you’d think that would start from 2027 IF the sport is still going in this Country.

a lot of the preparation for 2026 would have already been mostly done and you’d expect Louis to help with the transitional phase of the handover.

it basically said as much in the speedway star, but what is he expecting to happen?

No longer his problem is it? It’s someone else’s.

I bet Mr Tolley is one of the interested parties!

Almost certainly I’d say. He was interviewed during the season and publicly said he’d like to stay in the sport and he has himself a golden opportunity here. He was on a hiding to nothing at Birmingham, but he’d be starting from a much stronger base at Ipswich with a far bigger fan base, sponsors and set up.

Listening to Carl Johnson on the Speedway 360 podcast a few weeks ago and he said Peterborough had been asked to make up the 6th club... Currently there is no Peterborough Speedway!! This is proof, if any more were needed, that those running the sport are completely delusional if not totally insane!

Sounds like the Captain full speed ahead even though he knows the iceberg is ahead!

Nobody wants a five team league but although others seem to disagree, I personally think it’s vital to keep a top league in place. If that means running with a five team league in the short term, then so be it. But there simply HAS to be some kind of plan in place for 2027 and beyond to go with it because a five team league for years to come won’t cut it.

If they came out and said Peterborough will be back in business in time for the 2027 season and will be in the top flight along with another club whether that be a club coming up, another resurrected club, or a new club, to make a seven team league again in 27, then I think people would be a little more tolerant of a “sticking plaster” five team league for a season.

Maybe.

I think Peterborough are looking at championship if they come back.

Well if he’s sold it, it no longer IS his problem is it? I’m sorry, I’m not really following your point here.

I don’t either!

Ah ok. Hadn’t seen or heard anything on their plans if and when they come back. Think we all might be in the Championship by that time anyway!

The way he went about his business in Birmingham. Top hats Del boys three wheeled van for announcing signs all very amateurish!! Light years behind what the sponsors & fans expect.

I think the del boy the wheeler thing was an ai image I created to do with Ben Trigger wasn't it? Lol 😂

To your point though... it was all very believable

He’s an eccentric no doubt about that, but he’s obviously a successful businessman. As has been said, I wouldn’t pay much attention to what happened at Birmingham. You’re comparing apples with oranges to what he’d walk in to here at Ipswich.

Anyway, he may or may not be one of the two parties. We’ve just got to continue playing the waiting game unfortunately.
