Coleman of course alluded to all of this in his comments in the wake of the Ips v Belle Vue match the other week. Nah Doyle and Woryna collided on the run to first turn, Woryna footrest got hooked in Doyle’s bike so neither could turn and they collected jacks back wheel en route to the fence, zero to do with conditions just one of them unfortunate incidents 👍 3
Aries
“It’s fair to say we are already working on our team for 2027, and we are excited to see the kind of side we can build with the luxury of months to recruit riders, rather than facing the last minute scramble we did for 2026 as most of the teams were already assembled by the time we came to the table” I really like this fella 😁 Edited 22 hours ago by Aries

He seems to be someone who has a long term plan (not heard that in speedway before!) and has definite ideas how the sport should be run. Can only be good for the sport in general if he can deliver. Wonder what the other promoters think of him? Edited 22 hours ago by Garry1603

Wonder what the other BSPA members think of him? He admitted live on the telly box a few weeks back that he didn’t make himself too popular with the others by publicly backing his riders over the insurance stuff but he just laughed it off. Don’t think he’s the least bit bothered to be honest. He was getting on absolutely fine with Mark Lemon last night though. They were have a good laugh and a chat for a good half hour before the meeting. We had a chat with him ourselves a few weeks ago at the rained off meeting. He was just inside the gates with Andrew Chisholm as we walked in, no airs and graces with him, he seems a genuine down to earth bloke and is very approachable. He had time to chat and answer questions to anyone that was asking him. Edited 15 hours ago by Aries

Aries
This is the type of stuff that ALL clubs need to do far more of. You go on some clubs’ social media and official websites and they’re mostly incredibly poor. Some rarely get updated at all and it comes across as they really can’t be bothered. It’s such an easy and simple thing to do and this is the kind of thing Coleman was talking about in terms of lack of promoting. Keep the X posts flowing, Facebook, Official websites, ram it down people’s throats regularly and keep all the clubs in the forefront of their supporters minds. Its not a hard thing to do. Holder on 8+. Would result in a fairer League that see's something like.... BV - Kurtz & Lidsey IPS - Bewley/Doyle + Musielak KL - Fricke/Douglas + Kvech LEI - Fricke/Douglas + Masters NOR - Bewley/Doyle + Lawson SHE - J. Well this weeks announcement got everyone talking about it before and after! Clearly doing something right! They way I see it right now is two perhaps three promotions are professional and forward thinking if the rest fall into line we might just get somewhere! Been down that road before & the road of watering the product down & it doesn’t work. The only way to make the sport grow is to do the opposite make it stronger which will take time but ultimately would succeed.

While I'm not a fan of forcing riders to move clubs & think it's up to a club if they want to build top heavy or strength in depth, teams without top heat leaders rarely win anything (not since Peterborough's Dad's Army team) so can understand the desire for it. If the top 6 averaged riders got shared between the 6 teams, it shouldn't water the product down, especially if the points limit isn't lowered. The Champ had a rule to share out the number ones, no-one missed out (I believe Klindt didn't want to start the season in the Champ). If they're left undercooked again then will attendances drop massively due to the novelty factor wearing off? Wouldn't want a situation where they could potentially drop out of the top league altogether after the 2027 season. Selfishly though, it would be great to have Bewley and Doyle as a Top 2 at Ipswich in 2027.

Selfishly though, it would be great to have Bewley and Doyle as a Top 2 at Ipswich in 2027. Sharing out the Polish top league riders, and Doyle, would possibly mean two second div teams could be enticed to join the top league... Flexibility will be needed with race nights to accommodate the two obvious ones... Personally, I would run five rider teams in the top tier, all riders over four points, one home and one away, and then run another competition that all the top tier teams take part in but at a significantly lower standard without the top names... An "Elite League", (no guests), and (like we have two of now), a "Make it up as you go along big league, with one home and one away, with some Cup Competition that the tier one clubs won't be in due to their own league being ran.. And try then to sell the Elite League to TV... Edited 27 minutes ago by mikebv
