So on the strengthening subject, I don’t know averages current or start of year, I presume All Teams could only do a like for like or re-declare. So for example using Scunthorpe as the example as we are on their thread,they couldn’t sign anyone over an 8 point average, as that would make 2riders over 8. So in theory all signings must now be 7.99 or under, unless you’re dropping your No1?

Yes you could only sign 1 over 8pt rider,u can have all 8s if they upped their averages, i think thats why we wanted kemp as he was under 8,,like for like is ok for one rider but anymore you have to stick to 40.

I'm pretty sure the 8 point rule was for initial declarations, so any team should be able to sign a second 8 pointer now, if there's anyone available that is?

If you knew your speedway history you would know thumping teams doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in the attendance but does mean a very large increase in your wage bill.

i don't think winning the treble in 2018 was why the club went bust. Granted though that may have been the 'final nail' as they say. But in reality Laura was losing funds faster than snow off a dyke during seasons before 2018....I was told by a staff person that crowds were down to 300/400 before 2018. Laura Morgan bravely kept things going while obviously hoping for the upturn that never came. She wasn't the first Comets owner to lose big style, speedway can be so hard to bear.

If you knew your speedway history, getting beaten every week usually means a drop off in attendance. Winning at home is vital for attendances. You don't have to thump them just win and win on aggregate if you can.

The sport is down to its die hards...

Winning the majority of meetings at home is the only priority for many promoters...

Do that, and crowds will stay pretty much the same...

There is zero big reward for winning any league, so why risk the clubs ongoing existence by spending money it hasn't budgeted for?...

A title winning team at the majority of clubs won't generate much extra income, so why bother given their outgoings will increase ..

Workington, when they won the treble, would have budgeted for around 90 points (like most do) for their home and away meetings, and ended up with a team that often battered the opposition at home, and often scored 40+ away... 

Their crowd numbers didn't cover that "success"...

Only 15 clubs are left, so all need to cut their cloth accordingly as to what they can afford...

Not after winning the league. Worky had been living way beyond their means for several seasons so their bankruptcy was not unexpected.
