I hope it’s Perry because I hope he secures a Championship spot next season.

I don’t think many could argue against retaining Hodder at his expense, but if you could bottle Max Perry’s desire and effort, you’d make a fortune.

He’s got the bravery to go wide, but I think physically, he appeared to struggle to control his momentum coming off the second and fourth bends; he subsequently often lost that momentum.

He’ll be a great prospect for any club.

I think most people expected then to be back, gives them a strong looking top 5. So far it looks like a team that will be challenging for trophies

Yes looks a strong team, not much left for the reserves though but the top 5 should ensure they will be title contenders. The key maybe Anders Rowe who had a good season but seemed to taper off a bit towards the end but I seem to recall he had some good meetings at Oxford, good luck to him, nice guy.

What was the year that Glasgow had a stonking top five of Parker, Stancl, Grieves, Bentley and Jones (I think) and then two low averaged reserves? How did that work out for them?

Unless Oxford have snatched the much heralded Rushen away from Poole, then they may find they struggle at 6 and 7

2004, if I recall correctly. Started the season like a steam train, but ran out of steam by May.

Lots of factors; Jones - an absolute revelation - picked up an injury and chucked it, Bentley’s form fell off a cliff, Blackman and Campbell were dreadful and subsequently replaced by Cockle and Carrillo which improved us at reserve, but McAllan came in for Jones, so we were on to plums.

Still, we had a 15-team Premier League. Imagine.

I honestly think this team trumphs Glasgow's 2004 side. As good as Parker was, Masters slightly edges him, plus of Riss put a point on his average I'd call that a disappointing year. McDiarmid is very promising could put 2 points on his ave. Can't see Oxford's reserves having to do much, although Ritchings is a decent reserve on a low average based on his Poole performances.

The Glasgow side had riders who didn't live up to their averages, especially James Grieves l, who dropped below 7 I believe, wouldn't expect that if Rowe. I wasn't over impressed with the signing of Rowe at first, felt he went too long without scoring double figures at Poole, but that was assuming he'd be riding at 5. Put Riss at 5, with Rowe at 3, then all of a sudden I think he's a great signing!

I think Glasgow should have ripped the league that year, maybe the biggest underachievers in second division history? But can't blame the promotion for building the wrong team, more the riders didn't perform.

Aside from that, Edinburgh won the league in 2015 with 2 x 3.00 reserves to start with.

However I do think whoever signs Rushen will be favourites.

He will be in arm chair dozing off and on the odd times he's awake will be telling anyone within earshot how ---- they are and how great he is.

Sort the underperforming riders out

Lack of dough that’s why the Spires folded

Without the Spires draining all their finances I expect Oxford will be one of the wealthier tier 2 clubs

That’s a downer for a start

Ritchings was decent for Poole last year. I think him and Jack Smith would make a really strong team (with Smith likely to start at reserve all year). I think Max Perry is more likely to sign for Berwick as he had some really good scores there last year
