40-38
Where are all the air horns and whistles, etc? The pumping music? Anything? Or is it just not mic'd to pick it up?
flagrag
What a shame that BSP decided to go cheap on the production too much views of the floor or random shots along with out of focus at times during racing. Replays are limited and slow to be processed They did all the hard work getting the platform but then decided to go with an internal production

Sadly proven over many years that British Speedway promoters were at the back of the queue when common sense was being dished out
BlueIn2Red
To be positive for a change - I like the on screen graphics being used. Two minute clock, race time, time gaps, all things you’d think would be obvious to show, but I’ve rarely seen it before.

Doesn't need to be flashy just competent.

They do have a fair few camera angles...
BlueIn2Red
Camera coverage seems pretty decent to me, not perfect, but definitely meets the “competent” bar. I think Emma does a good presenting job too … let down by those she has to work with unfortunately (including the director, who manages to get an embarrassing pause in every scene). Popular Post ShanoXtra
Jesus Christ people you are watching speedway on ITV for free and they finally got a deal done and all you miserable buggers do is moan. Better turn your phones / laptops off and just watch the racing because your negativity is embarrassing somewhat. If you want to moan at speedway on ITV for the first time in 41 years go ahead, but don’t you dare moan about it not being on TV the next time around. rocketrod
Shame the commentary is preaching to the converted. New viewers won’t have a clue what they are on about.

Agree and the presentation is not far behind the Polish scene and watching both championships, the Polish racers tonight are far more competitive and producing closer racing and the UK racing seems a bit tame by comparison but that said ITV are doing a first rate show. Maybe the governing body missed an opportunity to fill the stadium. Just take a look at the Polish championship and price point versus Belle Vue. It would not have taken much to push the boat out on this one but UK speedway really lacks the ability to put on something special.

Racing pics have been fine and presenter is fine. Commentary is so-so as usual, can't say Olly Allen strikes me as a great talker. Would be better getting shots in the pits than focusing on the crowd and the floor though.

I forgot we should just be grateful for whatever we get served. Are you a promoter? You'd be a natural with that attitude.

It's an opportunity to sell the sport to ITV or any other broadcaster. So far, it's not going well is. Being on TV is not just about tonight, the future of British Speedway is dependant on selling our sport.

To be fair the actual show isn't bad bar a few technical duffs. It's the flat atmosphere that's worrying me, the PA should be thumping music out, air horns, clappers, just make it sound good in between the bikes.
flagrag
The on screen presentation and comms have been fine but is not coming across as a professional production. This is more to do with equipment used and people using them . They were given a price for BVTV to produce it and provide the facilities then another for SGP team and a higher quality production. As others have said do like the onscreen graphics and timings also second back of races seems to be better
40-38
Would be good to sell the bikes and riders as well. Talk about the fact they run on methanol, clutch starts, no gears or brakes, injuries, danger, excitement.
GeneralMelchett
Well done Jason Edwards great ride - I am just trying to enjoy this - what we need is some frantic racing in the later Heats just like the old British finals had! it’s actually nice to be watching speedway on a Saturday night on mainstream UK tv! 40-38
That was brilliant commentary then, waffling about GCSE'S and nearly missing Rushen creeping up the inside 😂 Edited 10 hours ago by 40-
