eide67
After a disappointing but expected thumping down at Poole the Monarchs return home for a much more competitive looking match against Scunthorpe. Nick Morris guests for injured captain Paco, and Scunthorpe have Dayle Wood guesting at reserve and R/R for Dan Gilkes. Much interest will be on Picko's return for the first time as an opponent and MPT's return after being a Monarch last season. A narrow home win for me. Mr Blobby
A match that if Scunny had their actual team would be a comfortable home win. Now not so easy. Much stronger with R/R for Gilkes and even stronger at reserve with Wood in place of the probably non scoring Ingram, who apparently has an “exam”

I genuinely can’t believe what I’m reading, so you expect the lad to miss one of his GCSE exams! I’m sure I can recall a full facility being granted for other 16 year olds doing their GCSEs in the past!

The one that says education comes first for kids! I know in your day kids left school at 12, but that doesnt really happen anymore. If parents arent allowed to book holidays in term time then speedway is a no. Unless you are in son2 squad 😉

JanAndersen
Thank goodness for our guest. A draw probably a fair reflection and i'm just glad that Luke Harrison found that speed too late in the day to score many points - that said, i'm not sure why he didn't take the r/r in ht14 - what am i missing? Thompson still rusty and looked unlucky to be excluded when Wood hit the fence but i'd need to see it again. Thomson continues to impress. Middle order ok in parts but real issues at reserve - Cluff looked back to his early season ways and Loftus looked all at sea tbh. Only one point between them and that was from a three man heat. Not good enough at home and will cost us.

Seems pretty simple to me, when heat 10 came along, the Scunny team manager had decided his reserves were going better than Harrison, so saved Mountain's r/r ride till heat 14. If he wanted to leave himself with more options could have used Mountain in heat 10, then when heat 14 came around chose between Harrison & the 2 reserves to go out. Mind you, you could wonder why after the team manager decided the reserves were going better than Harrison, then Harrison ran a last in heat 10, why didn't he replace him in heat 12? As it turned out, Harrison rode better. But part of me feels, if you're leaving Harrison in his 4th ride hoping he'll improve, why remove the chance of a r/r outing in case he improves? For example had Harrison won heat 10, then also heat 12, would they want to give him heat 14, leaving Mountain without a r/r ride? I think I'd rather err on the side of caution, plan to give a team rider an r/r ride, then replace them in a programmed ride if necessary.
