Toady
The track’s condition has been appalling for some time now and shows no improvement regardless of the weather. It’s always slick and dusty. Just a couple of seasons ago there was always an outside line and plenty of passing. Think Bomber, Scotty, Charles Wright and others; they were never off it. However Mitch’s performance last night demonstrated otherwise. I know we’re fortunate to have Speedway at Oxford but after what we’ve been used to it’s hard to justify standing around watching the guff that’s being served up now. Perhaps, as another poster suggested, they know the inevitable.
poole keith
Was told by someone with connection to the stadium the speedway has a 2yr deal
hawks 1975
My first visit this year, and once again disappointed with the lack of any passing once the first lap had been completed. I note some complaining about the lack of a racing line out wide, which Bomber's poor score would seem to validate. What I noticed last season on the couple of occasions I visited was how dominant gates 1 and 3 were in comparison to 2&4, and it was sadly true again tonight. 1 &3 had 11 of the race winners, and scored 59-31 overall. Gate four scored 9 points all evening! That can't be conducive to producing good racing when there is such an imbalance. Even the best rider on show, Sam Masters dropped his only points when out of 2 or 4. There is some banking, yet there doesn't seem to be any advantage going out wide, as Mitch McDiamid found out. Is that down to track prep? Was it too slick? I had read that they had had a delivery of shale recently, so was expecting some good racing. I used to rate the track, but recent visits have disappointed. A great shame, given all the effort at such a superb venue.

You watch football between the heats. Football is definitely something to have on in the background anyway.

Yet Oxford is slick but they can win. So obviously not the reason! Reading through everything seems like Oxford are trying to save as much money as possible. Probably just what you have to do when you only have a short term future.

If Glasgow had got beaten it would have been how terrible the track is but because they won no mention of how bad the track was.
Hamish McRaker
Your team manager's comments when Oxford lose come across as very limp and accepting. Where's the fury?

As a Southampton supporter Lisa I thought you'd be watching the football from behind a tree!!(sorry)
Colinspeedway
As someone who regularly attends Oxford but no allegiance (my past supported clubs closed) the track has been disappointing this season and will impact my decision in whether I will attend future meetings. I won't stop going, but may attend less as it's a fair way to go to watch 4 riders going around in dust with no racing.

Where's the fury? I did laugh when schroek described the defeat at Workington as a good defeat. thought he was wrong to blame the reserves as he choose a top heavy team and the consequences of that is weaker reserves signing his mate Riss ,who for the fourth year running is unfortunately not able to ride due to his eye issues. Always a big risk especially as big hitting replacements are hard to find. thought the track was better than normal in respect of the dust but it seems the watering equipment is far from adequate.

Yes I agree disappointing to single out reserves, Rowe more disappointing to me, and Mitch riding at 5 out of position. Was a big risk but Riss on form around Oxford was a steal on that average. Was he not supposed to be back soon?

Yet Kennett still beat the up-and-coming British star, Leon Flint?, Even though Kennett hasn't ridden at this level for a few years. If he ain't up to it, don't say too much about the others then!! He has stepped up from number 4 to a decent No3. I will presume you are on the wind up?
