ouch
It’s concerning that we have heard nothing concrete with regards next year’s plans. I was happy to give people time in their new roles, Mark & Rob on the BSPL board with Mark additionally joining Speedway Futures at the end of January and then Richard becoming a promoter six weeks after that. Aside from the terrific work to get Northampton up and running what do we know is actually happening. There has been the usual calls in the press (independent, du’s, top riders, costs etc), that we all know about already but nothing definitive about speedway future. I do get the feeling we are just waiting to have our operating model thrust upon us by Poland if their Poland + 1 LEAGUE is implemented. That will impact many of the issues in brackets above though not the primary independent requirement. With the season all but done and dusted by the end of next month the lack of publicised activity is a worry (again).
kevin bass
It'll probably be rinse and repeat again and try and run the top league with 5 teams if Sheffield don't run, and still try and call it the Premiership when they'll be next to bugger all actual top riders available to ride over here. tonyd
In answer to the topic title No at present, with all the fiasco of who would be running and who would not the message from the those who supposedly know was "stick with us we have plans for 2027". Well where and what are they ? I can see the close season ahead being the same as last year full of what ifs and promises with things being thrown together a couple of weeks before the start of the season with more crap being spewed out once more. I have followed this sport since 1968 and I am now 69 and rapidly losing interest in it, the sport over here is dying on its arse and instead of those in charge looking to the future of it they are licking fag papers and sticking them over the cracks trying to hold what's left off it together. How can anyone be interested in 2027 when according to the promoters the people are already voting with there feet in this the 2026 season. One has to wonder how many more loyal supporters will not return next year and the possibility of how many tracks will not return either in there current form?

The GP's in Manchester showed you can get a good crowd, paying top dollar, if speedway is "done properly"... And has something worth winning, with jeopardy, consequence, and credibility.. A large amount of those fans being ones who don't attend domestic UK Speedway.. Keep putting out the same old/same old thing, ie dozens and dozens of meetings with the kudos level no higher than that of a testimonial meeting, and you simply won't ever engage enough people to buy what you are trying to sell.. You can only hope that radical and progressive change has been planned with a major reset and relaunch... And that, at least the top tier, has been able to get some decent sponsorship, a TV deal, and a prize size that creates interest... Steve Irving
What the hell is wrong with you lot? I’m convinced a few people are now just on a wind up. If not, this is just cry arsing for cry arsing sake! We’re literally just in to August ffs and people are having a pop that nothing has been mentioned about NEXT year? Who the hell was expecting anything to be announced about 2027 by August 1st 2026? We know for a fact they’ve been having regular meetings far earlier this year to avoid a repeat of last winter if anyone even bothered to listen to the Richard Coleman interview. They’re not, and never were, realistically going to go public by August 1st on anything for 2027. Unbelievable.
Aries
I know it’s in vogue on here these days to have the “end of the world is nigh” attitude, but even I have to admit the doomsday prediction that it’s gonna be exactly the same as last year because nothing has leaked on next year by the beginning of August, is a bit of a stretch. Come on chaps rein it in a bit 😂

When referencing the GP weekend you have to remember this is a once a year event. If you were to repeat that even just once a month interest would soon drop, even if the admission charge was lowered. Arenacross is the same, put it on every fortnight and it would soon reach speedway’s attendance figures.

Come on chaps rein it in a bit 😂 August might seem early (it can never be to early for me) but to put it another way, Kings Lynn have three home meetings left so is it too early to ask what things will look like for their fourth meeting? I would like things done earlier this year as despite every AGM being “the most important ever”, this one most definitely IS. An uncertain 2027 has a detrimental effect on 2026. The analogy I have there is when the racing and track was rubbish at Kirky Lane I thought of binning off the sport. I spoke to the promoters who stated the circuit would remain much the same as all monies were going towards a new track & stadium. The result was I stuck with them as there was light at the end of the tunnel.
mikebv
Was it the Leicester TM who said July was the aim to get next year sorted?... I suppose given the fact announcements like the one Workington's manager has made, it results in plans getting made, unmade, made again, and then even unmade again if another track says they won't run, or decides to change Leagues... With so much uncertainty, (even without any landlords suddnely pulling up any drawbridges), it must be hard to make too many commitments.. Add in chasing a TV deal, and how the impact of Poland's "one extra League" hits, (should it happen), and I would think it will be another "let's see where we are come November" before any firm plans are made.. 1 valve
Attendance for this week’s second leg of the KO Cup at Leicester appeared to be around 2,500, with a strong mix of travelling Witches fans, supporters from other current and former tracks, and a sizeable Leicester contingent. This is surely the kind of crowd Premier League promoters should be aiming for as an average attendance. Yes, there was a trophy at stake, even if the tie had largely been decided after the first leg, however, the meeting was also shown on BSN, which many blame for lower attendance figures. Looking ahead to 2027, I hope the sport’s top level moves beyond “hobbyist” promoters whose survival plan is simply to do nothing. Instead, we see the continual emergence of profit-driven promoters developing a cohesive strategy for growth to include better top end riders, far less doubling up, a clear distinction between Premier and Championship clubs which results in an “Elite” competition comprehensively promoted every week to generate greater and wider media interest to attract significant sponsorship opportunities for both riders and clubs. As I believe the initiative to make this happen is already work in progress, yes I am very much interested in 2027 and beyond. Come on chaps rein it in a bit 😂 True it is only the start of August BUT is is also nearing the end of the season for some tracks so some information going forward would be nice. But no need to worry we can wait for February 2027 for any announcement maybe something like "this year it going to be a 3 maybe 4 team league but we will play each team 3 times home and away and for extra fixtures we have also added extra cup meetings again against the same teams" (sorry if you end up playing the same team at home 3 weeks running) Also for this season we are running 5 man teams with 2 rising stars at 6 and 7 For all this entertainment we are only increasing the admission by £2 but if your over 80 with both parents with you yourself can have free admission on the night. Obviously I am just surmising this will be 2027 as I have no idea what the plans are and it is a joke post as they could never announce something like this ............ or could they ?????

If they could get the top league up to 8 teams and 20% better quality than we already have, every team having a proper number one, home meetings at a minimum every other week. Once home and away to minimise seeing same teams every other week and it would also help stem losses by having fewer but hopefully better quality meetings, Would need a tv deal and ideally a proper league sponsor to get another 4-6 real top line riders back over here and finding a way to help Sheffield survive. They’d still have to do twice home and away IMO otherwise we’d have even less meetings than we do now. We currently have 10 home league meetings, a league of 8 teams once home and away would give you just 7 home league meetings. What else would you fill the season with to have the “home meetings at the minimum every other week” that you mention? Eight team league, twice home and away giving you 14 home league fixtures plus the KOC fixtures would help plug some of the annoying gaps in fixtures that we currently have. KOC could continue the same format as this year. Two groups of four instead of three in a north/south split, giving a guaranteed three home cup fixtures in the group stage, group winners meet in final. 17 guaranteed home fixtures in total. Sounds much better to me.

I remember the Stox at the old place, they ran around 10 meetings a year, and got 3500 to 4500, depending on the meeting level... The Aces ran around 3 meetings a month and got the same number as the Stox did with one.. But the Stox atmosphere and "experience" felt more like an "event".. Maybe less, but better promoted Speedway meetings, with tangible decent prizes, is the answer? Something to look forward to?... The reality is, if team Speedway ended tomorrow, by next Sunday, hardly anyone will care, and those 80 million or so who don't attend, with the vast majority of them not even knowing of its existence, won't even notice it has gone.. In the past 18 months we've lost Oxford and Birmingham and it seems certain that Sheffield won't be back for another year. Decades of the sport's mismanagement has finally come to a head. Bending over backwards to comply with an agenda dictated by Poland has had its day. British speedway needs to set its own agenda and not kowtow to foreign stipulations. If it means saying a permanent goodbye to riders preferring to seek their fortunes elsewhere, so be it. For survival we need a single nationwide league of 12/14 teams of riders committed 100% to British racing between March and October. A 24/26 match league programme plus a further 8/10 matches in a split north-south KO cup competition will guarantee teams a weekly match programme (just as it used to be!) The loss of a few "fancy-Dan" racers to Poland will mean much more money available to the rest who wish to compete in the UK, and a sensible rider payment policy will provide ample earnings potential for riders over a guaranteed 36-match season. It now really is a battle for survival of the sport; was it Einstein who said that to go on doing the same things expecting different results is the definition of madness? for years British Speedway has been used as a training scheme for Australians on the way to Poland .come here as raw as an uncooked cabbage .attain a decent standard .then it's either off to Poland and F.U. or its Poland first and Ill dictate when and where I appear ... see you in a few years when I'm washed up and Poland don't want me. Ill be back to squeeze the last few quid i can get out of British speedway

All of the above would be definitely be the right road for the recovery of British speedway. But will need the promoters to be looking forward and working together behind the scenes to ensure it happens and continues to evolve. let the track action be the place where the competition between promoters exist - not in the board room. Is Polish top division once home and away ?
