Neila Posted July 22 Report Share Posted July 22 Well what can I say 🤔 as predicted, but on a dusty track the water cart only came out in 2 of the 4 grading breaks, the last few heats were like watching through a dust storm, granted Lawson's pass in HT 15 was good, but the rest of the racing if you can call it that, was not exciting. But the pilots fans will be happy. Bitza Posted July 22 Report Share Posted July 22 (edited) To be fair there were a fair number of overtakes but generally Poole on Worky, good ding-dong race with Rushen (on Cluff?), Lawson was definitely not on any blue line as he rounded Jeppsen in heat 15. But Workington were abysmal, riders kept making errors & falling, not clearing track etc, tactical substitution wasted. Over from the start. When Foord wasn’t ready for heat one, which at Poole doesn’t usually start until 7.45, it was really indicative of a team who, Jeppesen aside, weren’t bothered. The expected disappearance of Craig Cook before half the season was out has completely destabilise the team, likewise Riss at Oxford. He had unexpected mechanical gremlins at redcar that they desperately tried to sort out. I haven't missed a home meeting since we started back up 3 years ago. Recently, the numbers have been down. There's three types of real fans - some who attend for the love of the racing, some who attend wanting their team to win, and some who are both. Thank you for that response that emphasised rather than denied the point I was making. No one is doubting the quality of the track at Northside when it comes to competitive racing nor the commitment from Andrew Bain that has created the venue. But the team has struggled this year - and last after the temporary shutdown - and regardless of loyalty or the quality of the racing, many supporters won’t pay to watch a losing team. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Doesn’t help with the council stipulation that there can be no weekend work. Utter building site. Building the new 7000 seater stand is going to be a doddle in comparison. Neila Posted July 24 Report Share Posted July 24 Poole fans may not like this observation, but here goes 😜 at the moment speedway still operating and in front of a good crowd, but the big office block is now empty and deralic as is the multi storey car park, a couple of houses nearby are falling down. To me this area and unfortunately the stadium will be soon purchased to build new houses, blocks of flats like most places in the the country, I hope the Fords have a new bit of land lined up for a new stadium, you can ask the Workington promotion for design help to build a good track 😜 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
