Friday 21st August: Edinburgh Monarchs v Berwick Bandits (Championship, Armadale, 7:30pm).

ROSS ECO TECHNOLOGIES MONARCHS: Dan Thompson, Jonatan Grahn, Justin Sedgmen, Paco Castagna (capt.), Kye Thomson, Mitch Cluff, Ben Whalley.

BERWICK R.E.D. BANDITS: Peter Kildemand, Jye Etheridge, Victor Palovaara, Dayle Wood, Nick Morris, Jack Smith, Reid Battye.

Important match for both teams. Dan and Nick both down to ride at the moment, but both missing tonight for Leicester, so there must be some doubt that they will make it. Ben Whalley guests for Jordy, and for Berwick Dayle Wood guests for Jordan Jenkins. A close home win for me.

Easy home win.

Painful to see sides ravaged by injuries and absences, especially at this end of the season.

Jason Edwards isn’t a number one and Dayle Wood isn’t a number four; he’s a reserve. If Morris is out too, then it’s verging on ‘what’s the point’ territory.

I’ve no idea what the solution is. We have a key fixture against Poole tonight and we’ve got Anders Rowe who is highly probable to give us a Drew Kemp level of guest performance. Meanwhile, Poole are missing Rushen and no-one seems to know why.

The losers are the fans and when that keeps happening, the sport is edges closer to somewhere we don’t want it to be.

Since Doubling Up became the rule, rather than the exception, Guestfests have become the norm...

When riders rode for one team only, and got injured, or were unwell, meaning they may be out of seven days or so, they had more time to be ready for their next meeting...

Nowadays a rider injured on Monday can need a Guest replacement on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday...

The lack of UK rider development, particularly in the 2nd tier as foreign journeymen after journeymen got brought in via a revolving door, has simply led to too few riders...

As you say no number 1 for Berwick and 3 reserves can only lead to one big home win

Looking at teams not riding tonight, probably a bit to far for King to travel with Plymouth riding at home tomorrow night.Killeen, McDiarmid other possibles.

Some h13 however I think a bit fortunate as Dan definitely wasn’t at tapes at the end of the 2 mins. He wasn’t even on his bike.

There was a problem with the 2 min clock that the riders look at. Yes the one on the back straight was working but the riders look at the one under the box.
