Imagine how good the end of the season would be if the play offs didn’t exist.

oh well, another year of the Poole sponsored play offs

When did we win the play offs without topping the league prior to the play offs? So you say Poole sponsored play offs but we would have won anyway and in 2023 when Glasgow beat us in the play offs, we topped the  league table that year too. The plays offs are terrific entertainment and a great end to the season.

Missing riders all the time could potentially cost us at the end of the day

Poole have only ridden 2 matches at home where their opponents have not had a guest …… can’t moan about your riders missing

As you will know, winning is never boring!

Depends on your definition of boring. Season after season of gate and go but some fireworks and a shiny trophy at the end of each season, or season after season of meetings with most meetings worthy of season finale standard? Your trophy cabinet might be bursting but your track is far from anything to be proud of. Success at the cost of the sports integrity.

Poole get biggest crowd in Champ, so they will do whatever gets people through the door. Who has the best track in the Champ? Worky? And their crowds are low. So you can have good racing but unless the team is winning, people will not go!

What are you running on about now?

We would be in for an exciting end of the season with around 5 really important fixtures, instead we have to wait for the play offs to be run when it’s probably going to be cold and wet

That made me remember Workington winning the treble…..then what happened?

Makes you wonder.……If Poole was in Cumbria instead of being a busy south coast resort, would they have the same following? 🤷‍♂️

Probably not.

Who knows, Poole have a long history of success in both Leagues so have a big fanbase but like all clubs must keep promoting and make the package attractive especially to the younger fans as most clubs rely on an ever ageing band of fans.

I'm not sure even if Worky had more success they would attract even a thousand fans.

Yep love the play offs, end of this season would not be that exciting without the play offs. Glasgow have two tough away meetings.

I am more than happy to keep winning,I don't want to watch Cami Brown celebrating in the George pub ever again!

According to you every time we won it was :D

It would be nice if your opposition was a liitle bit more competitive.  Might make it more exciting for the neutral although I appreciate not so close meetings can be good too.

I agree with you, but overall Poole have not had much opposition after dropping down, they have dominated all competitions, but whether it be Belle Vue or Poole its up to the other clubs to mount those challenges. I thought Glasgow would have challenged more tbh, again this season they dont look likely play off winners, odd really when you consider the ownership, they certainly have the means to be strong every season.

Don’t buy this whatsoever and I’m a Glasgow fan; arguably the biggest victim of the play-offs.

Finishing top of the league demonstrates consistency; winning the play-offs demonstrates you can perform when everything is on the line.

Additionally, if there were no play-offs, the league as a competition faces the risk of being concluded with weeks remaining.

The league table tells you who has been good. The play-offs tell you who has the bottle, composure, mentality, character, etc.

I thought heat fifteen last night one of the best pieces of speedway strategies I’ve ever seen (Harris unusually off one with Flint off three, subsequently blocking the Pirates with a switch off the second bend for a 5-1), but if that’s late September/early October and there’s a trophy sat in the middle of the centre green, are Lawson and Cook going down without a fight? I don’t think so.

I’m not suggesting they didn’t give it a go last night, but top riders thrive under play-off conditions and we, as the fans, are rewarded with a spectacle.

The 2025 final which Poole won at Ashfield was one of the greatest speedway meetings I’ve ever witnessed.

Looking like a great call once again @TheWellBehavedWorrall

I said I didn’t rate Rowe, based on seeing him race several times. What’s wrong with that?

I was delighted with his contribution last night.

Thats the beauty of sport; it’s a game of opinions.

I'm definitely in two minds over the league playoffs. Logically we have a  league, a knockout and a hybrid competition(BSN) three different formats kind of testing different attributes of a team. So maybe it should be left at that? BUT the playoffs give us more club speedway to watch and like TheWellBehavedWorall says has dealt up some outstanding finals, last year at Ashfield and the year before at Wimborne Road. So on balance let's carry on and enjoy the playoffs.

Personally I love the play offs, riders usually give their absolute best and it is great to watch.
