Riss is much better than his average and he proved that at Oxford when beating some top riders on a consistent basis.

Scored 20 odd one night against Ipswich if I remember correctly and that was with Doyle and Emil in the side which goes to show Erik's ability.

Just got to hope he stays fit, Nilsson would have a familiar face in the pits to help him settle in so it's looking good on the Team spirit front as well which is something that was lacking last year.

It's not easy to judge Riss as he's had a few illness effected seasons, but given his previous scores for Oxford, seems a worthwhile pick as a second string on his reduced converted average.

It's also less risky being signed by a Prem club than a Champ club (same scenario as Craig Cook) as its easier to find a spare second string for the Prem, than a heat leader for the Champ.

Definitely someone with that kind of name in the past get some stuff right as an "in the know"

Hopefully find out soon, when we reckon next announcement?

Said on the King press release more in the coming days and weeks so they’re obviously going to spread out the announcements. Probably get another during the week.

Think that’ll be more accurate! And would you bet against them now hastily altering the regs for 2027?

It wouldn't be a shock would it??.

Obviously nothing has been confirmed yet, however, it does look like a current GP rider is being assessed as just 50% better than a RS...

A quite ludicrous situation, however, as with so many things they do, they paint themselves into a corner by over complicating things, and end up adding more and more additions for what is, after all, just a team sport...

If only they spent as much time promoting and marketing the sport as they do writing, and rewriting, rules and regs...

Yes. Deffo. If a club dont sign thorsell or rasmus jensen on a 4.5 average then its the other clubs fault for not picking up KN

Both of those should be high up on Lynn's and Northamptons shopping list Phil if both are forced to run without number one's.

I see that myself, wasn’t he or she a reliable poster here too? And if memory serves me right, got their information from  Rob Lyon?

I could be completely making that up! The Lynn fans will probably know.

@Bagpuss

Believe so, and not RL but close.

During my time on here I’ve had these conversations with fans from Coventry, Birmingham, Eastbourne, Lakeside, Oxford, Peterborough, Reading, Rye House, Somerset, Swindon & Wolverhampton.

Given only one of those clubs is still running you must be a bad luck charm. Can you please stop interacting with any other clubs fans on here with immediate effect!

Five Promoters (on speaker) - "Hi Richard, I believe you've signed Kim Nilsson and want him on a 4.5 average?"

Richard - "Yes that's right"

Five Promoters - "And why do you think that this should be allowed?"..

Richard - "Because its in the regs, the regs most of you wrote"..

(30 seconds pause)..

One of the Five Promoters -  'Quick! Someone get me an effing pen"!!!

:D

And with luck if something along those lines happen it will only reinforce Coleman’s desire for independent governance.

This guy is truly last chance saloon for British Speedway.

Fingers crossed. I don't have any affinity to Ipswich (or any other active club), but this feels like one of those situations where the BSPL could create some sort of last-minute rule change and Coleman might think 'what's the point?'. It's clear Coleman is trying to drag the sport forwards, the last thing we need is him binning the whole thing off.

I’m assuming it has Fricke and Douglas at 1&5 plus Masters in it

Douglas

D Thompson

Masters

Howarth

Fricke

Harrison

RS

Don’t think that’s a million miles off.

If this Leicester team start as favourites gotta have some kind of trump card somewhere in the team as I don’t see Howarth and Thompson miles better than Riss and Nilsson at Ipswich.

It’s difficult when you try and rate your own club. For some reason to me at least, others always look better!

Getting ahead of ourselves a bit here as we need to wait until the teams are officially announced.

Leicester definitely have the track knowledge with the riders they have but Ipswich with Nilsson will take time but if he comes to the party then that Ipswich top end looks potent I would say Ipswich would sneak it as a top 5 but it’s basing it on a fully fit Riss, but if that doesn’t work I’m assuming Ipswich will have something up there sleeves.

Think Ipswich and Leicester look 2 play off teams for sure.

There’s a Belle Vue supporter on this forum and you know who you are, who is attempting to contact the Belle Vue management to look in to and contest, the average of Kim Nilsson.

I wish I could say I was joking but alas. Pure desperation stuff. Comical.

Just wait until you hear about Richard Coleman’s most devoted cheerleader in Bury St Edmunds, a gentleman called Steve Irving, who appears to swallow every word Coleman serves up without bothering to engage his brain first!

Irving’s powers of reasoning appear to have stalled somewhere around primary school level. He genuinely seems to believe that because of an alleged arrangement between Ipswich and Wrocław, riders signing for Wrocław automatically become Ipswich signings as well!

By that logic, supermarket employees contracted to ASDA should also clock in at Tesco, while Lloyds Bank staff should routinely turn up for shifts at NatWest. Utterly ridiculous, isn’t it?

But the greatest entertainment comes from Irving’s unwavering devotion to Coleman. The holes in his arguments are so enormous that you could drive a double-decker bus through them.

Take the claim that Ipswich are signing Dan Bewley because of the Wrocław arrangement. Conveniently overlooked is the fact that Jason Doyle has signed for Częstochowa. And the much-discussed possibility of Kacper Woryna joining Ipswich appears to have died a death. Of course, Woryna rides for Lublin, not Wrocław!

Then we arrive at the extraordinary case of Kim Nilsson.

Apparently, Nilsson is a 2027 Grand Prix rider and precisely the signing that transforms Ipswich into potential title winners. If he’s a Grand Prix rider, one of the supposed 15 best riders in the world, surely his assessed average should reflect that status. Are we talking 6.00 or 8.50?

Not according to the Suffolk faithful!

Suddenly, Nilsson is apparently worth no more than 4.50 because he rides in the Polish third tier for Landshut. So let me get this straight: when a rider is associated with Wrocław, the Polish connection is apparently worth its weight in gold. But when that same logic doesn’t suit the argument, suddenly the Polish league connection counts for absolutely nothing!

WHAT?!

Nilsson rides for Landshut, not Wrocław! How terribly inconvenient!

And then there’s Richard “Tricky Dicky” Coleman himself.

Coleman is becoming the Paul McKenna of British Speedway, seemingly capable of hypnotising an entire section of the sport’s supporters into believing that he’s some sort of second coming.

His headline-grabbing masterstroke? Taking the Speedway Grand Prix series to Gillman in Australia. Hardly the sort of announcement that sets the sporting world alight. It’s rather like announcing a Speedway Grand Prix at Redcar or Somerset and expecting the world to applaud.

Coleman has also presided over the movement of the British Speedway Grand Prix from Cardiff to Belle Vue and, subsequently, Ipswich. Yet we’re constantly told that Tricky Dicky is the man who can pull off the big moves.

Where is the evidence?

We’re still waiting.

And that’s the fundamental problem: the so-called “Suffolk crew without a clue” seem far more interested in worshipping Coleman than applying even the most basic level of scrutiny to what he actually delivers.

As for Grand Prix riders, there is currently  a small number who appear to have no appetite for riding for Coleman’s Ipswich club. Perhaps they’ve already seen through the sales pitch and recognised the difference between genuine ambition and a convincing publicity campaign.

Whether that number grows remains to be seen.

Finally, let's circle back to the supposed Ipswich signing of Dan Bewley.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

But there’s one rather obvious question that nobody in the Coleman appreciation society seems particularly keen to address:

IF DAN BEWLEY HAS ALREADY SIGNED FOR IPSWICH, WHY HAVEN’T WE HEARD ABOUT IT?

Let’s be honest, Coleman isn’t exactly renowned for keeping exciting news under wraps. Quite the opposite. He’s a man who appears to relish the limelight and publicity.

If Bewley had genuinely signed on the dotted line, I’d suggest we’d have heard about it from every available rooftop, social media platform and speedway news outlet by now.

So perhaps, just perhaps, it’s time to separate wishful thinking from reality.

Because blind loyalty isn’t evidence, speculation isn’t confirmation, and repeating somebody’s sales pitch doesn’t magically make it fact.

Less hero worship. More critical thinking. And, above all, a little less believing everything Tricky Dicky tells you.

They don’t need to be miles better, just better. Thompson is still very much on an upward trajectory and will comfortably outscore Riss & Nilsson. Howarth’s average will  be more or less what it is currently. Thompson will therefore be the difference.
