Voted the Fans' Rider of the Year at last night's End of Season Party and having stepped into the Vice-Captain role whenever Zach was unavailable this season, he is surely a candidate for Captain in 2027!! Always been a fan of Kyle Newman, he definitely deserves a place in the team.

If cairns was at 5 and Newman at reserve away I feel that would be weak, but with Kennett there it strengthens the team up no end, that’s kinda how the management roll there not sentimental they wanna win. Newman average imo won’t improve a lot where as Kennetts should be hitting around 6-6.

If both was in the team, and it was Lawson Rushen Cairns Kennet Newman, and then I’ll put Harrison in there as his name has popped up plenty, there would be 5.16 left for the last rider, which does mean you open the door a new 5pointer slotting in the team, does mean no Slater as I wouldn’t expect Poole to start so far under the limit, although I’d expect Slater to have an average above a 5 come the end of the season. i assume Landon would be a 4? Beau is always the dream option on a 5 and Matt Ford did say he almost signed as Bowes replacement.
Bagpuss
Have Oxford said that McDairmid isn't back for 2027?

So Lightcap to miss out then and Kyle in his place and a 5.00 rider in place of McDiarmid then? as Harrison is nailed on from what I’ve heard.

No chance. Lightcap should be getting a team place first.

Average wise I agree, in speedway it’s all about signing riders who can put points on their average, Slater could get near 6. Where as Kyle would likely be around

Not that I’ve seen, but with Masters Killeen and Brennan that’s already a huge chunk of points, someone I think said there’s another big rider signing, I think Howarth was mentioned? So I think it was more just assumed he wouldn’t fit. As 99% of things on here are, it’s just rumours or guesses

Has much changed as of course Poole always had Dane’s in their team, Pedersen Anderson Klindt, is that definitely a dealbreaker? I guess it rules out him doubling up in the UK which is probably what would’ve needed to happen. Either way plenty of 5pointers out there if that was the plan, just about getting the right one and more importantly the dominos falling in place
Fromafar
Poole could do with an established 2nd heatleader(assuming Lawson is back)relying on improving young talent at present.

szkocjasid
If we're expecting surprises, how about this team? Using Newman, left room for a stronger 2nd heat leader, Sedgmen was the highest available that fits in! Poole Richard Lawson 8.15 Justin Sedgmen 6.84 Will Cairns 6.44 Cooper Rushen 5.01 Kyle Newman 4.92 Edward Kennett 4.62 Slater Lightcap 4.00 Total 39.

On 10/30/2026 at 11:03 PM, Paddy The Rebel said: Obviously it's all opinions at this stage, but I think quite a few of the Poole riders are being under rated by many. Lightcap averaged 4.83, but remains on 4.00 as he didn't ride enough matches. Considering he started half way through the year on tracks all new to him, I think that's decent & can see him at least putting a point on his (4.83) average. Cairns stepped up from the easier no 7 position & scored well at number 6, then carried on his form when he moved into the top 5. So if have no qualms about him riding at 5 & would expect his average to go up. You could also say he's on a slightly "false" average as his 2026 ave was 6.94 from 18 matches, counting the last 2 from 2025 drops his rolling ave to 6.61 (6.44 with reduction). I see no reason why Rushen's 2nd season won't be similar to Cairns' so expect maybe 2 points on his average. Then Kennett has shown what he can do when guesting. The more I think about it, can see them romping away with the league.

I think essentially with having Cairns at 5 who essentially is not a number 5 the team is built with protection around him all the other riders are basically going to be 6.00 riders so if cairns has a bad night there’s plenty of cover for him, that’s my thought anyway. You could also make the argument that if Cairns, Rushen, Harrison and McDairmid were in the top five with Lawson then they have enough talent between them for one of them to step up / improve enough to grab the number 5 slot and make it their own. Or one of them really should do.

That I agree with, you’d think on the night one of them would be confident at a crack a ht 15 with Lawson,
