At first glance it seems a decent idea, but it’s going to end the top flight careers of a lot of riders. Kevin Juhl Pedersen and Jason Edwards for example, are simply not going to be employed by a Premiership club in their 1-5. Maybe, someone might have squeezed them in at reserve, Pedersen particularly if someone built top heavy and needed a 3 pointer. 
 

1-5? No chance.

I do like this idea, I think it will mean premiership clubs will need to be directly involved in young rider development in order to succeed. If it comes in next season though it will mean the teams with cooper rushen and will cairns will be at an advantage.

May this help with the split between the premiership and championship and reduce doubling up. At the end of the day KJP and Edwards both have averages around 6.00 in the championship so in an ideal world should not really be troubling the premiership before the hit 7-8 in my opinion.

They've tinkered around the edges for years with rising stars and whatever they were called beforehand, grading reserves in the championship etc. which led to Boxall and Armstrong at reserve for what was meant to be all season on 7 point averages. 

 

Set a points limit and let teams build to it but by all means encourage younger british riders being signed first and foremost, if a team doesnt want a british rider they shouldnt be forced too but with the knowledge they will be signing a rider with a higher average.

One of the major stumbling blocks to rider development has been the amount of experienced Double Uppers/Downers who have filled two places and not one...

Particularly taking up so many places which should have been set aside for development in the 2nd tier...

Maybe the higher ups will allow riders like Jason Edwards to get fixed up in the NDL on an assessed average just to make sure that they've got another pay packet on top of the Championship in order to keep them afloat?

Sooner they get rid of doubling up the better, it’s a sticky plaster that has been done to death.

It will create a rider shortage but that will then force somebody to actually do something about it than pretend it’s not an issue.

The league is only being kept afloat by doubling up and riders who would have normally long since retired by now, sooner or later though those riders will have no choice but to call it a day, better to address the issue now than after.

And as far as this idea of riders needing to ride to make money, get a job, the only riders who should be full time are the riders who ride in several countries every week.

Remember even when the likes of Andy Galvin was dominating the old National League, he was not a full time rider.
