Put a small track team with ageing riders against a big track team dialled in and it was pretty obvious what would be the likely outcome. King Barker and Nicholls are closer to their pensions than the start of their career in speedway. Reserves never stood much of a sniff against Battye who is dialled in like a heat leader. Neutral supporters always want a close result in the first leg, similar to BSN final as sets up second leg perfectly. Hope it doesn't affect Plymouth's crowd size too much. As a neutral I don’t give two tosses who wins the cup. I wanted an 8-10 point Berwick win to set it up nicely for the second leg. The fact that the meeting was poor entertainment with a drag race to the first bend made for finger in the fast forward button. For neutrals it doesn’t float our boats. As for the crowd it was good to see a decent crowd at Berwick. Must have been a thousand there at least.
