CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY OFF FINAL - SCUNTHORPE v POOLE v SCUNTHORPE (2 & 7 October)

The main point for me and something seemingly missed.

There was a significant area of deep shale INSIDE the LINE, that seemed to be far more than normal to me.

Look at previous Meetings, and recall this has NOT happened at Poole before or if it has very very rarely.

I accuse therefore that this "run off" area was especially placed there and it was done in the event it was needed in a key part of the turn , as it would only work once before the Referee paid particular attention to it.

Am I accusing poole of cheating

YES I am!

It’s to allow Poole riders to shorten the track. Not illegal in general, but where other tracks are prepared for toe-to-toe racing, Wimborne Road is prepared to stifle racing.

Scunthorpe brought the entertainment on Wednesday; Jenkins passed Cairns, MPT passed Rushen and Pickering made passes in both the last heat and the super heat.

Other than Cook’s debatable “pass” in the superheat, a Poole rider didn’t make a single pass all evening.

The first leg of the final last season was the same. Beyond the first lap (when riders are closer, so swapping places is inevitable), only Freddy Hodder made a pass and that was in heat two.

After Jenkins done Cairns on Wednesday night, Ford was out on the track organising the removal of dirt.

All of this, plus whether or not Cook crossed the white line, are moot points: the rules state that riders who warm their  tyres face exclusion. Cairns warned his tyres at Scunthorpe and wasn’t excluded, despite the referee having access to crystal clear video evidence. Cairns unfairly won that race. If the rules were applied, it doesn’t go to a superheat because Scunthorpe win it.

It's called home advantage. Every promotion should be setting up their track to best suit their riders - if they want to win things. The Poole promotion want to give their riders the best possible chance of winning, that's what they care about. It's also what Poole fans care about and what keeps them coming through the turnstiles - and who can blame them? Whether you like it or not, Poole don't care about a Glasgow fan watching on a screen.

I saw Will Cairns speaking sternly to his tyres and telling them off for being too 'cool! Great to see riders taking things seriously!😂

Also I asked previously, is the ref at Scunthorpe in radio contact with the start marshalls? ie. do the marshalls wear headsets?

If Hook had rode the 2nd leg it definitely wouldn't of gone to a super heat

also from google....

The Speedway Control Bureau (SCB) Regulations define the "white line" itself as the official boundary of the infield. [1]
The rule book phrases it with strict technical phrasing under two specific rules that work together:
  1. The Infield Line Definition (Rule 05.1.4a): It states there must be "a continuous line to define the inner edge of the track circuit." The SCB formally interprets this white painted line as being part of the infield itself, meaning the precise "inner edge" of the racing track is exactly where the dirt track meets the outer edge of the white paint. [1]
  2. The Point of Disqualification (Rule 012.1.11): Because the white line counts as the infield, the regulations do not require a tyre to cross 100% over the line to be in breach. The rule strictly penalizes "a rider whose machine crosses the inner edge of the track with 2 wheels." [1, 2]
In practice during a referee review, if any part of the tyre tread simply touches the painted surface of the white line, that wheel is legally deemed to have left the track. If both tyres touch or cross onto that white paint during a corner, it triggers an immediate red light disqualification, unless the safety or crowding exemptions apply. [1, 2]

I appreciate that you have stated Google as the source, but are those definitions quoted in the SCB rule book anywhere?

Having now downloaded it, Rules 05.4.1.4a & 012.1.11 only contain the wording in the bold text of your post & not the definitions in the regular font.

If they are (I don't have the patience to read the whole thing!) then fair enough, it's an open and shut case.

If not, it's subjective and down to interpretation of what constitutes 'crossing' a line. As we've seen, this seems to vary depending on individual applications that have been defined with clarity.

Tbh someone posted that even Chatgpt said Cook did nothing wrong and did cross the line,,,i typed in Gemini and it gave that answer, I wasnt stating the rulebook..Lucifer Sam said we shouldnt be using AI , I was stating the fact that Ai gives different answers

My main gripe as ive said before, why didnt the ref exclude Cairns ? He had all the evidence of BSNs replays but refused to look despite numerous phone calls...maybe a league match but not the pinnacle of the season. All these if and buts are just speculation and hindsight,If Picko hadnt hit the fence and beat Rushen we wouldnt need the superheat

Also to answer a question about mics...no Scunny dont do head mics like Poole..Whats stopping the ref having a little friendly word in his ear?

No Start Marshalls do not have radios. It is a joke even watching track announcer trying to get  box announcers attention. God knows what goes on in the Ref's box,,it appears nobody in there pays attention or communicates with others.

They are all individuals with a role to play but like you said no one seems to talk to each other or see whats happenning. i lost count of the times Dans interviews get drowned out as the DJ puts music on as hes tryng to talk...
