Hardly histrionics dealing with a shower of Idiots.Any fan who sees the effort they have put into the sport will appreciate why they have a grievance with the way the Sport is being run to suit certain Promotions.7 points

Ooh. A five year plan. How exciting. Am I the only person seeing deja vu here? Points limit of 35.5 plus what will effectively be a three pointer, yes? So a points limit of 38.5 for the top league of 6 teams? Are people actually approving of this? How did things go last time they put points limits in the thirties into operation? Crowds pretty much halved. Now they are doing it again. What happened before when they did the 2 point junior in every side rule? They scrapped it after a year because they riders couldn't keep up. I guess it depends on the level of the gradings for British youngsters and who are included, but this will please those who want to watch grass roots speedway and everyone else will continue drifting away like they did before. Also there is one less team in the Premiership this year to what there was in 2019, so it is an even bigger drop in points limit than it looks. To be honest, I don't even see the point of having a six team Premiership of this standard. Why bother? Why not just have one league of Championship standard and have done with it. There seems little to gain from being a top flight team under this system.6 points

Another 5 year plan how many 5 year plans has that been in the last few years now, couldn’t make it up. Riders who were promised a team spot now out of work, which is ridiculous. Championship watered down again with now having to bring in wobblers who aren’t ready for this level.5 points

I appreciate the past was totally different than the present, but as a fan of 60 years who enjoyed his speedway in the mid/ late 60’s, I feel bound to compare. Of the 18 clubs who made up the British League in 1965, only 3 will compete at the top level in 2021. Looking at the fare on offer back then... 17 visiting teams, World-class riders at every meeting, open meetings of a GP standard, world championship rounds and an 18 team cup competition, I can’t help feeling today’s fan is being woefully short- changed. To have only 5 visiting teams with no GP riders in a whole season is far from exciting. I accept I no longer attend meetings and there will be forum members who feel I am not entitled to comment, but I doubt any members who watched British League speedway between 1965 and 1971 would disagree with me.4 points

Top flight - 42.5 average. Sign who you like within the limit. In other words, I wouldn't have introduced anything. Championship - the new system if fine for that as it is supposed to be a lower league and it serves a purpose for that. The top flight needs to be a strong league otherwise there is no point to it. Alternatively, scrap the higher league completely and have one league at Championship level. A six team higher league is a waste of time unless it is a league for teams that want strong teams.3 points

What makes you think that Mr Godfrey or indeed any of the BSP Ltd directors have any influence on the British GP.? Its not their event!!3 points

Pointless post most will say. Ans it probably is. But how good is it to see fans building potential teams for there beloved clubs. Makes me feel like a lttle bit of normality is coming back2 points

Okay, so we've read about the Youth Policy, Premiership & Championship Leagues plus Eurosport, but nobody has mentioned the equally important NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE, as I'm sure stand alone clubs like Isle of Wight, Mildenhall and Plymouth if they don't join the Championship would love to know what's going on.2 points

Spot on. Pretty pathetic and utter BS about bringing on the youth. Just piss poor PR spin on having a two pointer at Number 7. Wasn't this 'the plan' in 1986 ?2 points
-
So, for those whinging about the announcement, what would you have introduced? Lets have some ideas.2 points

Agreed, NO chance but the product clubs are putting out is a £10 max. If any other business, supermarket etc put forward a drastically reduced product at the same price you clearly wouldn’t buy it and that’s what will happen with speedway, if it ever gets going 2021! Which is debatable!2 points

Love Len a legend of the sport. When you're his age anyone under 50 is a bright young prospect.2 points

This is a good move and will encourage and benefit the young up and coming riders. It’s not an original concept as a similar thing has been done before. Will it improve the speedway product and put more bums on seats? I very much doubt it. I fully appreciate the BSPL PR has to be positive and optimistic but inevitable this underwhelming announcement will not have much impact on making the sport sustainable and saving clubs and promotors from going bust!2 points

In summary, much ado about nothing. A five year plan to promote British Youth, which they have been forced into due to rider availability, following the Polish restrictions on how many leagues a rider can participate in. Aside from that, seven man teams, blokes riding their bikes round a track four times, with a season start date of 1st May.2 points

The track is the most important for holding a gp and the national stadium is head and shoulders above scunthorpe plus if it were only the track there is a number of tracks on a par with scunthorpe if not better, the point being made is the obvious bias towards scunthorpe by people in positions of influence "all in the best interests of speedway/scunthorpe " of course!2 points

New ideas.... Green helmet colour, golden double (twit hat) 6 lap final heat, 6 man teams, 8 man teams, 16 heats,18 heats, bonus points, no bonus points can't be any of these all been done before.2 points

Was just wondering why is everyone desperate for news there's still at least 14 weeks to the start of the season2 points

Riss wasn’t going ride anyway feel sorry for joe but think it won’t be long before he gets picked up1 point

Someone will be without a team place now anyway. Redcar already had to bin 2 riders, one being a young Brit so the new rule really done wonders there.1 point

You’ve answered your own question there... if hospitality is due to reopen in May then surely Speedway in an outdoor environment beginning in May seems reasonable?1 point

Will it last 5 years ? A lot of the young lads could have their confidence knocked if they are only scoring a couple of points.1 point

Seems a bit vague agreed, need to make the lists of riders available in the new grading system and what grade they are but definitely has enabled certain teams keep the same riders1 point

For once I agree with you, and on every point. With COVID, Brexit, Poland and rider availability we were forced into bringing through the British youth which has never been in as good a shape for years through the BYC. I like the fact that an agreed plan has been developed, and all the clubs have agreed to a unified front on team selections, launch programme, and it's all aligned with the Eurosport and their launch. It doesn't really matter we have reduced the team strength, less costs going out of the sport with visas, flight, vehicles, lodgings and more concentration on Brits and especially the young riders. This is the sort of plan and unification that the sport badly needs to make future progress and build up British stock along the way. Only thing not hinted at is the possibility of a supremo to run the sport, possibility to be announced later when he has cut the ties that stops him from taking the post now. Well he has left now, so why hasn't Trump been announced. Having a personal interest in the sport, I sincerely hope it all goes well, and everyone thinks of the sport before their personal interest. Looking good.1 point

I think there has to be two divisions for several reasons:- 1) there is too big a gap in the standards between the top riders in the Premiership and the reserves in the Championship to compete in a single league. 2) I'm still to be convinced there are enough riders to do away with doubling up / down for a single league. 3) What average would you give to riders currently riding in both leagues? 4) In this shortened season is there enough room for fixtures for a single league?1 point

Does Dan Bewley qualify as an u-21 number 7 category 4? Sounds confusing... Or will Jordan Palin be thrown in the deep end1 point

Apparently Leicester have recalled him to replace Ellis Perks and that's why he's been released by Newcastle1 point

Morley is a good signing and certainly knows his way around Kent. Hurry will have his work cut out to reach race fitness but if he does the the point will come, just hope he doesnt get knocked around too much in a tougher league.1 point

Apologies without a slight on Harrys level i would say top 3 performers rather than finishing order1 point

If previous experience is anything to go by Vatcher will have no say whatsoever on gradings which will be being done by a member of the top table mafia or their appointee like it’s always done. Clubs will approach the ‘ youngsters ‘ directly and it will be a case of the club giving the best guarantee that gets their first choice. Its a good idea but , as per usual, money will dictate who goes where.1 point

So we had to wait over a week because the BSPL had a big announcement to make via their media partners Eurosport... who managed to muster up a paragraph and a half in that time? Talk about an anti climax. Was hoping for some form of streaming service to be announced as had been rumoured but nothing of the sort. It’s good news that British Youth riders are now being a minimum requirement in every team though, that’s a good move. I just hope that teams don’t now try and wrangle it to end up with dodgy Australian’s at reserve who has a long lost auntie with British heritage and sneak in that way. Likewise, I hope they don’t sack it off mid season like they did with this exact same process about 15 years ago, when Boxall and Armstrong (god knows why he was included from the beginning but that’s another story) performed above what was expected and were forced into the main body of each team. If teams pick up some young riders who are blinders and perform above the expected then that is only great news and they shouldn’t be punished for it. The next argument will come next year when teams want certain riders downgraded to fit into their team or opposing riders upgraded... we can only hope not!1 point

Indeed, but there would be no problem about holding the British GP on any one of several British tracks if it were subsidised by TV. Certainly no need to go to the expense of renting Cardiff (or any other luxury stadium) when all that's needed is a circuit. All that would really be required would be a "pwoper" race-track and reasonable logistics to get riders and officials in and out.1 point

Oh yes I'm told "The Big Bang" announcement could be a major sponsor such as a famous cleaning product.... However if it's the "Finest Universal Cleanser Known" League then there could be concern if the product name is abbreviated.1 point
