Gdansk V Torun Sunday 8th October Live On The Internet

Gdansk statement issued today- Google translation

In the first place, we would like to thank you for your many visits to yesterday's game. The faith and strength that you gave to the players was enormous and we believe that our stadium can look like that in every league competition in Gdansk. Unfortunately, the opponent turned out to be better. From this place we would like to congratulate the team of Toruń victory and maintenance at PGE Ekstralid.

In this sentence we should finish, however, there were events in the past week that should not happen in the sport and we are obliged to inform you. On Wednesday one of the players of the team Zdunek Coast Gdańsk presented the proposal of financial gratification and contract in the team for the season 2018 in exchange for a weak attitude during the match play. The athlete rejected the offer and immediately informed the management of GKŻ Wybrzeże. A day later the offer was renewed and the player was offered a higher prize than on Wednesday. The offer was reissued. At the request of the player the club board abstained with all actions on the matter until yesterday. Our intention was to provide athletes with maximum mental comfort for Sunday's competitions. On Sunday morning, the other riders of Zdunek Coast were informed about the offer, and they all denied it to accept any offers of this type.

In conclusion, we would like to emphasize that we have NO basis to claim that any of the competitors Zdunek Coast Gdansk presented unprofessional attitude in Sunday's competition, and the team from Torun won in unfair competition competition. We also believe that everything has taken place in a sporting fight. However, we have undeniable, hard evidence that the corruption proposal was made to at least one of our competitors and in our opinion this is absolutely unacceptable and pathological. We also have grounds to believe that this situation negatively affected the atmosphere in our team and the mental preparation of the players to the match. The case has been handed over to the police and will be handed over to the authorities of the Polish Motor Show and PGE Ekstraligi. We believe that union representatives will do their utmost to adequately punish perpetrators and slag sports will remain free of corruption and unsportsmanlike conduct. "

Gdansk club activists do not want to comment more on the matter and will not be answering any questions about the sytem

What's to translate??

Gdansk have hard evidence that at least one of their riders was approached with a bribe (money and a 2018 contract) to 'under perform' in the 2nd leg against Torun. The rider produced the evidence to the Gdansk owners before the 2nd leg and all Gdansk riders were informed (in case others had also been approached) - again before the 2nd leg took place - which Torun won comfortably to maintain their place in the Extraleague.

Evidence has been presented to the Polish Authorities - watch this space!!!

Torun stinks !

it was Torun who were illegally paying money to the Peterborough promoter for Jack Holder, and now it is Torun again with this attempted Jacek Gomolski bribary

I hope the PZM and League takes firm action. They did not hesitate to punish RoW Rybnik and deducted just enough points for them to get relegated to the lower league. For the club, that was a really harsh punishment, for one of their riders (Laguta) failing a drugs test. This Rybnik club's punishment saved Torun from automatic relegation.

Now I wonder what the PZM will do with Torun in this bribary scandal. Torun should never get away with such dirty behaviour. It stinks!

IF this turns out to be true, then surely Torun would be relegated?

Such a crime would be far worse then what was committed by Rybnik...well, Laguta anyway.

I can see this being conveniently brushed under the carpet though.

How was the Laguta ruling different to the cases of Dudek and Loktajev?

Those who lecture or goad us on how wonderful Polish Speedway is might like to switch on Google Translate and read this.

https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/715795/jest-pierwszy-zatrzymany-w-aferze-korupcyjnej-wydzial-do-walki-z-korupcja-przesl

It reports that a 40 year-old man has been detained by police following allegations of strange proposals being received by Gdansk riders, notably Kacper Gomolski.

Excess money in sport can so easily attract corruption. Let's hope this is either a mistake or an isolated story.

If not.......

Evidence has been presented to the Polish Authorities - watch this space!!!

SportoweFakty.pl reports:

Gdansk's speedway boss, Tadeusz Zdunek, last Sunday, after the EkstraLiga decisive promotion/relegation battle revealed that in the week preceding the meeting his riders were getting strange proposals. Over time it became apparent that Kacper Gomólski got an offer from one of the Torun club sponsors -, I.e. PLN 100 thousand and a contract in Toruń, in exchange for poor riding .

The corruption department of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Gdańsk has already taken over the recording with a corruption proposal. The first witnesses were also interviewed, including Mirosław Kowalik, Gdansk's team manager. There is also the first detainee a 40-year-old man. The event took place on Tuesday.

The police does not want to reveal even the man's initials. It also does not confirm whether it is a sponsor who came up with a proposal to the player. According to the official statement, the detainee faces up to 8 years in prison

If you had to bribe one rider to ride poorly why Gomolski ? He does that most weeks without a bribe.
