In 2022, those who went back on Sunday had to endure sitting there for FOUR hours with a track grade every TWO races. The big pay-off of the semi-finals and final were called off, because the track had supposedly suddenly deteriorated, when in truth it had been awful since around Heat 12 of the previous day. So the most three important races weren't ON that day, whatever you may choose to claim. Rose-tinted specs, perhaps? I did go to the subsequent two Cardiffs, but many didn't bother. The racing at Cardiff varied between poor and awful - I think that's why the majority stopping going.

Went to every Cardiff GP, but don't miss it. Manchester is better - Friday's meeting last year was better than any meeting staged at Cardiff.

Interestingly, Speedway Live Updates has today's changes on it (R/R for Cook and Pijper for Gilkes), while the new British Speedway updates site doesn't as yet. Maybe room for both!

It's more the bikes than the riders. The modern lay-down reacts much better on a slicker surface, plus the bikes are now easier to race and pass when the track is slick. The power the bikes now have means they launch if the track has too much grip. Although, last night, I think the biggest problem wasn't the level of grip but the big rut halfway around the first and second bend. Dayle Wood hit it Heat 2 and lost his chain. Race leader Anders Rowe hit during Heat 4 but managed to stay on. Fraser Bowes hit it in Heat 6 and was less lucky.

Anyone using their eyes could see Kerr was not under motive power at the point the race was stopped. He should have been excluded. Wouldn't have affected who won on the night, but it did change the destination of the bonus point.

Says an Ipswich fan 😆 Quality racing right up until Heat 15 tonight, when Luke Killeen belted around Danny King. Terrific ride by Nicholls in Heat 13. He'd do that for you too if you gave him a decent track to ride on!

Cracking evening. Decent crowd considering the forecast - although would have been bigger had more Poole fans made the trip. Lot less Pirates' fans tonight than Coventry brought a fortnight ago. Track prepared for rain that didn't come, but still favoured those who attacked it. such as Mitch McDiarmid. What a performance from Dayle Wood - masterclass in gating and also lovely team-riding in Heat 8 to ensure the 5-1.

Not aware of that. The Poole team that was submitted for the programme was Kerr at 3 and Cook at 5, which is also the team on the BSPA website and Poole's social media this morning. PS Apologies for the error regarding Poole's sponsor in the programme - of course, it's Wessex Marine and will be corrected when Pirates are next in town. My error - it's been that sort of week but now looking forward to seeing speedway back at Oxford!

Sorry, Steve, most of the Oxford fans aren't old dinosaurs and on an almost obsolete old school forum. And those dinosaurs still on here realise all the Oxford fans are on social media and focus our attention there. Should be an absolute cracker of a meeting tonight
