I don't read many threads on here these days but this one caught my eye for some reason. According to Speedway riders, history & results at least 358 riders were used across both leagues in 1970. I also took a look at my first season 1981. 36 teams began the season and at least 374 riders were used in official fixtures. I've also identified at least 100 riders who rode in second halves and junior league matches without making an 'official' appearance.

If there's anything in the Northampton speculation it's even harder to see how that could work with no tv deal

BBC South missed a trick. You had Shovvy and his lazarus like comeback from the dreaded Covid and Arry Triffic Redknapp. Should have had both of them in front of the camera Shovvy talking about how he came back from deaths door thanks to the vaccine and Arry saying how triffic the vaccine is. The NHS would have got great publicity there.

You say the team is 1.4 over the limit, but also comment that Rew for Doyle or Emil makes the team weaker (obviously). But it would be very hard to avoid having a weaker team (of the rules stay the same). Rew for one of the top 2 would still leave a very strong looking team imo.
