Philip will 100% be back at Foxhall this Thursday Apart from "seeming to try" what are peoples expectations for his scoring this season?

With The British U21 Final at Redcar on the same day surely the relevant authorities should have made this the only fixture available for maximum publicity and attendance on Sunday.

Guests were introduced in the 60’s as fans were sick of seeing walkovers when injury hit teams took to the track and there was a lot of unrest about the system from the get go and that continues to this day. I’ve always said if more than two members are missing from one team or a total of four from both teams then the meeting should not go ahead. The problem there is rearranging in the age where riders jet her there and everywhere. The other solution would have been to use riders from the second division and even better, buddy up with a team from that division. You are then seeing riders you wouldn’t normally see and not using riders from your direct opposition. The problem now though is double up/down is rife so it can’t work. Another solution is a squad system but there isn’t enough money in the sport to have riders sat in the bench awaiting a call. Lastly, with so few fixtures we shouldn’t be having ANY clashes where our riders are known to be required elsewhere. For us in the UK, guests are here to stay but they must be the absolute last resort and not the go to solution so currently overused.

78 matches in the top flight last year, including PO matches.... 62 Guests used... A bit more than "hardly any" at not far off one a match on average I would say... Maybe the UK should do what Sweden do and all race on the one night (Thursday?), that would then sort it once and for all... They could do that now with an even number in the league.. The top two tiers used 196 in total... Tough for a team sport, in any day and age, to sell such a concept to any major sponsors, and TV companies, I would think, even more so in a world where the optics of what you do are viewed 24/7... Let's hope the likes of Richard Coleman can influence matters enough to eradicate all those "ah, but this is Speedway" nonsense rules, which really should say "ah, but this is UK Speedway...

Rye House Speedway Needs You Put the date in your diaries – 11 August 2026. The long awaited Appeal to determine Rye House Stadium’s future will be heard at the East Hertfordshire District Council Chamber, East Hertfordshire District Council Offices, Wallfields, Pegs Lane, Hertford, SG13 8EQ on 11 August 2026. This is a public hearing and presents supporters with an opportunity to show the level of interest in saving Rye House Stadium as a Speedway venue. A strong turnout matters. It demonstrates that Rye House Speedway is not forgotten, not abandoned and not without supporters prepared to stand up for it. If you support Rye House Speedway keep this date free. If you’ve booked a holiday – cancel (or postpone) it. If you’re thinking of booking one, avoid Tuesday 11 August 2026. The decision to hold a public hearing instead of dealing with the appeal on paper reflects the scale of public interest. Now that interest must be seen. More details will follow — but for now, save the date and be there.
