Meeting preview: NORA British Pairs Championship - Mildenhall Stadium, Saturday 25th.July 2026 It’s a case of Two’s Company at Mildenhall Stadium on Saturday 25th. July with the NORA British Pairs Championship coupled with demonstration races from the leading riders from British Championship Sidecars providing a full programme of events for what promises to be an exciting evening of top-quality Speedway racing – gates at 6pm for a 7.30pm start time. The NORA Pairs event sponsored by ‘The Racing In The East’ project sees the welcome return to Fen Tigers’ colours of West Row favourite son, Alfie Bowtell; partnered by Aussie Harry Sadler – who scored a hugely impressive paid 12 on his Mildenhall debut last month. The home duo face stiff opposition from five visiting pairs. Fellow NORA League side Kent Eagles come with predictable strength, captained by a former National League Pairs Champion in the vastly experienced Ben Morley and a former Fen Tiger, returning after a mid-season break from action, one time British U19 rostrum man, Jack Kingston. Another former third tier Pairs Champion in the form of Simon Lambert fronts up the first of two Pairs brought to the meeting by the HG Aerospace Speedway Academy – the Anglian Angels. The Angels were the joint-side put together back in the late 1990s by East Anglian giants King’s Lynn & Ipswich and the Foxhall-based Academy has resurrected the team name for this meeting and future use. Partnering multi-British Finalist Lambert and making a West Row debut on her racing tour of Europe is World Women’s Championship number 4, Tayla Street. Team Managing the Angels is former Ipswich Witches rider and long-time Team boss at Foxhall, Ritchie Hawkins. The other HG Aerospace-backed team are Ipswich themselves – with two leading members of their Academy in Ashton Vale and Harrison Rogers looking to upset the odds. As will the remaining two pairs: Cradley A.R.H. Heathens’ Seth Norman and former GB Youth Champion, Luke Harris; and the Boston-based duo of Mickie Simpson and Sam Woods, wearing on the evening the colours of a team name from the Cambs & Lincs border of old, Wisbech. Making the meeting a double attraction will be the mighty 1000cc Sidecars featuring two legends of the discipline: former British Sidecar Speedway Champion, Paul Whitelam and multi-GB Champion in Grasstrack Sidecars, Will Penfold. Both crews have multi-appearances in the Sidecar Speedway World Championships and there couldn’t be more impressive ambassadors re-introducing this discipline to British Speedway tracks. The meeting is sponsored by the ‘The Racing In The East’ project. Details of this University of East Anglia ground-breaking project will be in the special souvenir meeting programme along with an exclusive article highlighting the very little-documented post-war Wisbech Speedway written by Speedway historian Derek Barclay. Chairperson of the Mildenhall Supporters Trust who run Speedway at West Row; Kieran Phillips states, “This is such a big meeting for the club – our biggest since we formed the Community Interest Company and reopened the sport at West Row. The field is of great quality and we’ve had tremendous sponsorship and support from fellow clubs which is so heartening to see. On track it’s going to be close and exciting for sure.” The NORA British Pairs Championship is at Mildenhall Stadium on Saturday 25th. July – gates at 6pm; tapes up at 7.30pm. Admission is £15 with youngsters aged 15 years and under, go free.

I found it outrageous that they played this during half-time of extra-time in the World Cup Final. Don't they know that British Speedway has exclusivity on it?

I think the issue is how often this one goes down, which is much more than on other forums I am on.. And the lack of FB or X "sister forums" means no communication is forthcoming as to whether the Forum is only temp down or permanently... Plus, of course, the lack of moderating which allow "multis" to get involved with their often nonsense input to many of the threads, which doesn't help the threads develop...

Technical errors happens on most websites/forums like this. Doesn't mean it will be taken down.

Signed up to the "new forum" last night as thought it was the new version of this one ? and this one was gone forever bit of a fiddle getting into the new one, initially do not like the format, will be interesting to see if this one continues ?

Didn’t even know there was another forum, with this one being down for the last 3/4 days I wondered if like British Speedway its days were numbered. Despite a very small minority who try to spoil it for everyone else, this platform is very important and it would be a big loss if there wasn’t something like this for fans to have a debate of exchange views on.

There seems to be a more polished version of this forum just released but only a handful of the people who post here seem to have transferred over, I have registered but haven't had an activation email through. Anyone know if this means here is on last knockings ? Phil if your about seem to think you might be involved in the running of the speedway forum , or if anyone else knows whats going on would be great to hear.

Finally made it last night - very impressed with the set up there - the track was bladed etc after heat 2 and then after that produced some really good racing. Its a shame its a 2 hr drive for me as I would be tempted to go more regularly but its a great set up and sat in the grandstand on a warm sunny evening watching a 45-45 draw with quite a lot of overtaking I was very happy!

Well have to say last night he rode more like the Batch I remember - quick away from the gate and mixing it very well - scored 11 too! Great meeting

In 2026 we've lost Birmingham and in recent years we’ve seen the loss of many iconic teams such as Wolverhampton, Coventry and Swindon. It seems that other teams are now under threat unless some radical changes are made. Along with many paying customers, I have a vision for how speedway has to develop if it is to survive. Decades of the sport's inefficiency has finally come to a head. British speedway needs to set its own agenda and stop kowtowing to regulations set in Poland. Speedway has bred a generation of riders who want to have their cake and eat it: they want to earn their bread and butter in the UK leagues and chase the Polish Zloty to put the jam on top. This faces the British authorities with the dilemma of having to dance to the Polish tune when trying to plan the home fixture list. This cannot go on. For survival, we need a single nationwide league of 15 teams wherein all its riders are contracted and committed exclusively to British racing between March and October. A 28-match league programme plus a further 12 matches in a split north-south KO cup competition will guarantee teams a regular weekly match programme, and a sensible rider payment policy will provide ample earnings potential for riders over a guaranteed 40-match season. But the last thing we want is for British speedway and its contracted riders to be isolated from European competition. So speedway authorities must open negotiations with its European counterparts for European competition on two levels: 1) An annual European League of Nations, with initially the four participating countries of Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. 2) An annual European Champions’ League, featuring the top teams of all the four participating nations of Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark and Poland. A nationwide league of 15 teams in meaningful competition - with the addition of the possibility of genuine European glory - will revive the waning interest of fans, riders, media and potential investors. It is time for the Promoters to bite the bullet to avoid inevitable extinction of British speedway. So I've set up a petition demanding that the British Speedway Promoters Ltd take these matters on board with immediate effect. Spot on. In the Prem, Harris' 2026 GSA from 10 matches is about a tenth higher than his starting GSA - whereas from 12 Championship matches his 2026 GSA is more than a point lower than his starting figure.

Unfortunately with there being no mods, users can post what they want now and simply get away with it, which is just one reason why so many former users have stopped using the Forum and also very sad (a bit like the user you have quoted). So do I.

After a few weeks of no track action at the GT Tyres arena the Comets are in action against the highly fancied Poole Pirates team. The Workington riders whilst having no team action have been busy riding for their respective Premiership sides (Batch, Tate and Drew) and also guesting for other Championship teams. Max and Vinnie have also been guesting a few times for championship teams so hopefully the guys will be race ready. The Poole team are packed with heavy hitters including the formidable pairing of Rushen and Cairns, while the heat leaders include Lawson , Cook and Kerr! The weather at the weekend is forecast to be a bit cooler than of late which should be better for the racing surface. ** Remember it is back to the 6pm start time**
