  1. Past hour
  2. Listening to Rob Lyon, he was talking the talk, so maybe we have someone open to change and can get it through... Mark Lemon worked for Adrian Smith, so, I presume, was aligned with Adrian's views on the sport in the UK?... If so, then he too will see the potential out there, but also know that the current operating model will never deliver that potential, so therefore must change... The aim of sorting 2027 by the end of June is a start, and hopefully, will get delivered....
  3. I don't know... A 30 something year old, grey, now far too small to cover a gut, Iron Maiden 1992 Tour T shirt, matched with a pair of dirty blue jeans, (also now too small), allows for a surfeit of "arse crack", when bending over and fixing a chain, which always looks professional on the TV...
  4. Belle Vue to win the home leg but Sheffield on aggregate as Belle Vue have built a side that the top 2 apart can’t ride away tracks
  5. Scunny had stock cars last night and again on Saturday, so maybe logistically it made sense to not have speedway in between if they have to make any infrastructure changes.
  6. Is it me or has this been the most stuttering start to a season ever? The PCMT & Klindt's testimonial, then nothing except for a few Redcar/Scunny encounters, Ben Fund & Belle Vue, then nothing... Good Friday! 2 meetings on! One at Poole and one at Edinburgh... Scunny not even bothering (maybe this was the "wow" news Godfrey has been referring to) What a state of affairs!
  7. Today
  8. A meeting thread at last! The longest winter of all time drawing to a close 😃 can see this being a very small home win or even an away win tbh Chris holder looked dynamite in the Peter craven meeting, and killer looked the opposite jack and picko will likely score less than Brady and Dan but beat everyone else and not be far off, I think etheridge will have the better of Tate at the bottom end too. Zach and blodorn vs flint and rowe could go either way all 4 capable of decent haul on their night
  9. Can see it being close on Monday, but Sheffield to win easily on Thursday. This Belle Vue team will struggle at most away tracks I feel unless Cook can really step up. The key to Monday will be Cook, Blodorn & Kildemand for the Aces. They'll need to get around 20 points between them to get a home win. Kurtz / Bewley should be good for about 25 points but reserves won't get much.
  10. Belle Vue to win on Monday, but then lose out on the aggregate point on Thursday.
  11. Coming from a bloke who has “filled almost every role there is in speedway” during what Backtrack would term the sh*#^show years, I’m not going to listen this constant negativity towards a sport I both love and seek to see improve. Enjoy your speedway, so long.
  12. I was a tad surprised that Poole went for Dan Gilkes with his injury record...
  13. Well his average fits, with a 1 year 8% reduction and then 2.5% British discount.
  14. They got their chance but neither should have it because they already have priority elsewhere
  15. It certainly was a failing system and not unexpected given those who sat at the top table for years. Give the new lads a chance I say.
  16. I would rather trust that departed bigwig to bring change to the sport than the other 2 and I think when we finally find out why he departed it may well be that he was stopped from bringing change, bringing a new team isn’t change it’s a new club joining a failing system no matter how much its cost or who its cost, n new club is a positive step but until change happens thst club will be in the same boat as the others
  17. I’d say bringing a new club to the fold at considerable expense is a big change. Whether Mark & Rob can continue to build hope for a new era given how those who previously and still sit at the top table behave is debatable. At least one of last years bigwigs has departed the sport so that dilutes the self interest somewhat.
  18. But they have investment or bias in a club so nothing will change
  19. So a no to the new Northampton promoter introducing himself in his tracky bottoms then 😂
  20. I agree and this should extend to the mechanics and officials too, optics matter
  21. If it does contrary to rod Godfrey saying they all get on, they don’t and within time ego’s will come into play (they always do in any business)hopefully it’s a big success and makes money to keep those ego’s at bay
  22. If this starts to go wrong does the new promoter get picked on by the other 5 playground bullies?
  23. Feeling this will be a close one, majority of the Belle Vue riders have had a good amount of sparring matches/ Individuals in Poland and the odd UK outing where as Sheffield have a couple without much true racing action which could give Belle Vue the upper hand. Hopefully there’s some good action between Bewley, Kurtz, Holder bros and Pickering and not too much follow the leader races. Just based on it being early doors and the odd rusty rider going for a home win for Belle Vue 47-43
