If I was Sheffield, I'd prefer Pickering to Brennan too. And if I was Ipswich, I'd prefer Brennan to Pickering. I'd expect that's the way it will end up.

2026 Premiership is Go! - At least 5 teams
IainB replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yeah, give me the PL when you can featuring no show Ben Cook at No1 (or Jack Holder or Brady Kurtz... or insert the name of your favourite No1) backed up by Joe Thompson and Sam Hagon at reserve 😁 -

Whatever happens, It'll still be better than the One Big League nonsense that some members were advocating for. Can't sink any lower than seeing a Top British League Team featuring No Show Craig Cook at No.1 whilst being backed up by Aaron Butcher and Jack Smith at reserve. -

I totally expect a new BSPL Chairman to be one of the things to come out of tomorrow's meeting. Either through Godfrey resigning or being ousted. -

I think it will be a case of the headless chickens syndrome. Crisis, mismanagement and incompetence sum up the way those in charge have attempted to control and run the sport. Sad to say that the grass routes of the sport and fans UK wide have been shafted by those in charge and treated with so much contempt you wonder how they have the audacity to charge anyone to watch a meeting. The BSPL have failed the sport, the riders who are left high and dry as they cannot agree deals with sponsors etc because of the lack of decision making and ultimately the supporters who you wonder why they bother attending a meeting when you are ignored and have no voice and those that run the clubs take your money but really could not care less about the customer base. A case of sod you but gives us your money. -

I'm predicting the let down bit 🤔 5 teams all with 'junior' teams too to fill in the gaps... Colts, young stars, lion cubs, steelers and an Ipswich side?? To run a Premiership 'junior' league -
It’s all over the news tonight……they are there discussing what biscuits are coming into Barnsley over night & if there will be enough tea & coffee. The local residents that were interviewed couldn’t believe that Barnsley had been chosen to stage such a huge high profile conference. Tomorrow is such a big day!

Well, I for one am looking forward to hearing the results of this Meeting. I hope it hasn't been postponed (again). 😟

Well tomorrow is the big day, we finally get to hear the massive news springing from the depths of Barnsley and personally I am beside myself with excitement, will it be 5 laps, will it be no more tear offs allowed, will it be a new team in crimond in north east Scotland ? Or will it be the biggest let down ? Hope we can all sleep tonight with all this excitement

Some of the comments on this topic aged well (@mikebv 😉😂) I ran a poll on TwitterX the last time his position seemed untenable and the consensus then was he should be gone... yet here we are 3 years later. He's so far out of his depth it's embarrassing, he may be okay running sleepy Scunny but as a leader he's been about as effective as Liz Truss! -

If no one would listen to him from within why would they appoint him to run things independently.... -

100% agree . personally now Louis is out of the picture at Ipswich I’d put him in charge. 5 year term reinstate an independent scb & have Louis & the scb run the show. The BSPL would then operate within the rules as laid down. -

Unfortunately they are in it for their own good, it's a closed shop. Wasn't Matt ford high up on a committee at one time, but others did not want to do what was suggested. That's why a totally independent person/ group would have to be in charge, but can't see it happening -
What are people’s thoughts on Rob Godfreys tenure leading the BSPL ? is he the right person to lead the sport out of its current top flight mess and if not who would you like to see as a replacement ? my personal opinion is we need a change and my shortlist would be Phil Morris Matt ford or Peter facenna.

Still awaiting my w/e 3rd Jan ish, none in local Asda or TJ Jones either. 'Tis 'the post' tho as a Christmas card from Exeter took 10 days, while same to Florida, USA was 18 days. As a matter of interest my all-time record of fastest post to FL, USA is 5 days, think they held up the 'plane just for me....

It does exist for the Premiership, where one fan per club is part of the Fans Voice group, which meets periodically with Phil Morris. Some of the reps have gained some traction with their own clubs promoters There is also a rep on the group who does not represent Premiership clubs, but acts as a rep for feedback from other clubs and defunct clubs. The group that that rep comes from contacted all other clubs and got zero respone. However, they collect views and ideas from fans on the groups Facebook page and submit those monthly or thereabouts to Phil Morris. At last years AGM Phil presented the document, which had 1600 lines of ideas and comments. Regretably the fedback from AGM was almost non existent. Ideas have again been summarised and submitted throughout last season, with no feedback at all. It's difficult to help promoters when they simply wont engage.

Didn't them in charge a few years back sugest a fans forum type thing, where a fan from each club would take forward comments/suggestions from fellow fans to them in charge, but can't remember if anything happened
