I didn’t blame it, it’s just a factor. You could see certain senior riders speaking with the track men after heat 1 and 2 , there not the greatest track men ( four of them, and one has been around northern tracks for years ) but they do what they can and I think Redcar would be buggered without them. Strange that the ‘Top Man’ never goes out on the tractor . I agree, they are inconsistent, that’s why I wrote it 😄

I’d love to see Northampton get 3 points personally. Kings Lynn will battle to get another wooden spoon.

As I remember it the KO home meeting was swapped round with the league fixture, making both rearranged matches, that I'm thinking gives Lawson's danish side priority for their pre-scheduled matches.

When was the last time you went to Plymouth ? the track has been significantly widened on the bends and on the straights

With the regular Danish league season running to the end of August, how many more Poole home meetings is RL likely to miss?

Sorry I read a post that this was the original fixture. Still think he should be riding for Poole though.

The Gladiators came through a difficult run at Edinburgh, Berwick and Redcar with their play-off hopes still intact, and with several sides above them having games in hand, the Championship race remains finely balanced. I think the weekend was far bleaker for their play-off hopes than they admit. The Friday defeat at Armadale set the tone for the weekend. Edinburgh won 52-38 to strengthen their position in the top three, and the scoreline also saw them take the aggregate point. Taken together, it was a weekend that showed both the challenge and the opportunity facing the Gladiators. The challenge is clear enough: Plymouth have completed 12 meetings, more than Redcar, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Poole, and that means the sides around them all still have extra chances to build points. Poole, in particular, have only raced six meetings and are almost certain to finish comfortably inside the top four. That leaves Plymouth chasing more realistically after Redcar, with Glasgow also in the conversation if their form dips. Not sure why they're talking about catching Redcar or Glasgow, Glasgow look safe, Redcar won't make it & they've completely forgotten about Scunthorpe. The encouraging part for the Gladiators is that they have already banked league points, plus two aggregate bonus points, and they have shown they can compete with sides in and around them. Not sure the point they're making, that sounds like team near the bottom, saying they're not so bad? Wins against Redcar and Scunthorpe, along with that close-fought meeting with Edinburgh, are reminders that the league table does not tell the full story. When it comes to pride in your performance or enjoyment, of course the league table doesn't tell the full story, but that won't help them make the play-offs. The remaining run-in gives Plymouth a route back into the race. Home meetings against Poole, Workington and Glasgow are still to come, along with the away trip to Poole, and those fixtures will go a long way to deciding whether the season finishes with a place in the play-offs or a frustrating near miss. The challenge now becomes turning the promise shown in patches into the points needed on the board. After a weekend like this, there is no escaping the fact that Plymouth need a strong finish. But the hope is still there, and the next few meetings will tell us whether the Gladiators can make it count when the season reaches its decisive stage. To me this post would make perfect sense if the top 5 or 6 made the play-offs?

On social media, anyone can be a "speedway fan"... Just like a crap restaurant can have great reviews... Those sitting in judgement won't consider any personal comments made on some SM platform,, both positive or negative..

Which he also was going to be riding in Denmark for. Which i had no issue with at the time as i thought that was rearranged and this one was the original. So whichever was the original fixture, he should have been at Poole for not Denmark.

How soon fixtures are out isn't relevant with fixed race nights... (Unless rearranged dates).. Denmark use Wednesday so using any rider with a Danish contract will always carry a fixture clash threat... The difference with this situation is that usually teams are happy to arrange meetings away from home without their best riders, but, on this occasion, the home team has their best rider missing..... Denmark will also see their league as being more important than either of the UK ones given the riders they have on their books this season...

This meeting has been rearranged though it was meant to be on June 24th but it was changed to the KOC meeting between the 2 sides

The 2026 Danish league fixtures were published in December 2025. At that stage nobody knew for certain that there would be a Premiership nor the likely number of fixtures so several riders of the required standard looked elsewhere for more fixtures/money. ( eg Zach Cook wasn't due to do CL this season)

But the Polish league is a slightly different situation. They get their fixtures out early and have rightly or wrongly, first call on the riders availability. How many Wednesdays does the Danish league run on and how many of those Wednesdays didn't clash with a Poole home fixture ?

I don't disagree, but the "authorities" are the promoters themselves... And the "authorities" have allowed teams (Poole being one with Zach Cook), to sign riders who already had Polish contracts before they sgned in the UK, so knew they would miss weekend meetings...

Like at Plymouth where you get close racing but not a lot of passing because the track is too narrow both on the straights and the bends, around there riders almost automatically become Phillip Sitera, remember him? the rider they used to nickname the Rolling Roadblock.

Yes but as he is British and his British team ride their home matches on Wednesdays, plus the fixture not being a rearranged one. The authorities should be taking action.

The Danes run a squad system. It's usual for a foreign rider to contract to complete a minimum number of meetings per season. Lawson missed his last one in June due to gastroenteritis and with Denmark having their season break during July, this week(29th) sees their resumption and his first (best?) opportunity to catch up!

Trouble is Mike, when he signed for both leagues in the winter it was said he wouldnt miss any Poole home meetings as he was only going to ride in Denmark when we didnt have a home meeting that week.

The council are not entitled to say "on your bike" because of things supposedly said to the owner on social media, The council are there to sit and judge a company that ignored planning laws and went ahead and ripped out, demolished and built on the the track and stadium grounds that they had no permission to do. The council have to decide if the company is required to re-instate the stadium to the way it was when they got the lease no matter if they have an intention to run speedway or not. If this has to be done (which we all hope it will be on a matter of principle) then the next thing the council should look at is to see if they have broken the terms of the lease and if so could they legally invoke a clause in the lease and make it null and void and take the lease back and issue a order for the tender for the stadium lease on the open market once again?

IMO it should only be an NDL guest. A British rider missing a meeting that's been in the fixture list all season to ride in another league is a disgrace. If the CL fixture had been rearranged id have more sympathy. Why sign for a team in a wednesday night league when your bread and butter team use the same night as their preferred race night.

But you can have tracks that it's near on impossible to pass due to track prep, watching them bust a gut trying outside and going backwards,, people still say good racing,, when in reality the racing is rubbish, but the riders trying make it look better

agree - the shape of the tracks helps as well in my view.
