The challenges of being in a major city rather than a small provincial town. The Bournemouth "echo" and the Poole "argus" or whatever the local papers are down there have little to report on in the sporting world apart from one football club in Bournemouth , and frankly most weeks will be slow news in the poole area. Anything Ford or Middlo says however trivial will be found a column inch just to fill the paper. Compare with Glasgow where the sporting world is dominated by Celtic and Rangers and no doubt all manner of stories affecting the major city of Glasgow. The only story likely to feature in the Glasgow "Herald" is some disaster at the track or similar bad publicity story.

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
Aries replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Ah missed Leicester you’re correct. Maybe we’ll see it in the top division too then. We’ll see. -
Hopefully he will get both after Wed/Fri 😀. 5 months will hopefully help sort it.

As already stated one meeting with the track specially prepared does not make the whole season. Local/regional media report on winners. They couldn't give a rat's backside if it was entertaining or not. If greater media coverage generates greater attendance, then those additional fans keep coming back, as Poole's attendances over the season have shown. Nobody has answered my earlier question of how much media coverage Glasgow Tigers got after Friday? I'm interested to know having spent almost all of my working life in regional media and large venue management.

Quite happy to lose the TNT coverage as I wasn't planning to pay £30.99 pcm to watch the speedway and the saturday lunchtime PL football by half price deal ends on 26th october whereuon I will cancel it. Premier Sport would be an interesting option - i used to subscribe to them a few years back wehn they covered Polish (reruns) and Swedish speedway matches.

SilentLurker Looks like you have demolished the Tigers team. If you think that Max Perry has improved , you are watching a different Max Perry than I have. Perry has been outscored by Hodder in more occasions than not,Perry is not , as this stage , a Championship rider He lacks experience, has no power in his engines, is off the pace most times, and shuts off coming out of the second bend He went 7 matches and scored 5 points,he needs to beat his opposite number, that hasnt happened enough. He is 18 years old ??,compare him to Nagel, same age, there is a massive difference on track. I would have Harris back definately plus Nagel, Hodder,Thompson, either Flint or Howarth. NO PERRY. I agree with you regarding a Team Manager, Brown slipped up in the Super Heat, should have had Thompson or Flint, not Howarth

According to Sportowefakty, Article taken from the Speedway Star. 4 Journalists have said TNT aren't interested in renewing the contract, Sky Sports unlikely to be interested, Alternatives are Premier Sport who show Swedish Speedway and BSN British Speedway Network.

😂😂😂 Hang on. So you’re telling me Poole don’t want to prepare a track for proper racing and entertainment because they’re worried it won’t generate enough publicity and sponsorship in comparison to not preparing a track for racing and entertainment!?😂 Get a grip, Steve. You can win the league and host entertaining racing; it isn’t either or.

Anders has a groin injury which won't improve without treatment and rest. He also injured his left arm which was so swollen he had to be helped with his kevlars. Also he did have a stomach upset during a recent away meeting, threw up and needed to be helped back into his pit bay. The groin injury isn't helped by Anders' riding style of coming from the back ( because he can't gate for toffee).

Zach Wajtknecht added to the NSSC fixture list.

£250 was collected and donated to the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund at the meeting on 14th October. A thorough discussion on the workings of the Ben Fund was followed by many thoughts and anecdotes by Paul, Chris and Jan. -
Anders, has actually been very consistent, but not scoring double figures. By my fantasy league stats (including bonuses) he's not scored double figures in his last 18 matches, which sounds astonishing for a heat leader in an (almost) treble winning team! Scoring between 5 & 9, averaging 6.7 points a match, he's found the consistency so many riders talk about. Of course I'm sure Anders & Poole expected more from him, it almost seems like he runs one last race per match and never gets into heat 15s, so never reaches double figures any more. Yet his green sheet average didn't seem to drop much!

Pretty sure he is over the injury now, he did have a sickness bout during a meeting but ok now and seemed fine in the final.

redcar racing bears v Poole FTG pirates
Bitza replied to Coraldon's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
BCP really ought to be right behind proactively securing Wimborne Road for the future of the Pirates, one of the areas premier assets that puts Poole on the map. Looking forward to our last meeting of the season, hope it can go ahead on Wednesday. -
Well I dont remember you being critical of any rider but on his current average Kerr is worth a place. If we could fit Lawson, Zach, Kerr,Rowe, Cairns, Rushen and Bailey that would be decent team but maybe over the limit although we dont know what the limit is yet.

I like the other main two but some of the younger ones especially on 11 sport seem abit out of place

Why? -
I did say I'd have both of them. Just pointing out it's more Barker's away form that is a concern rather than Joe T's
-
Jake Allen at Poole? Really? Nothing against him personally but not had the best of times at Poole recently. Although everyone always says Poole is difficult to come to as an away rider, even Darcy said that when he was with Swindon. Happy to have Kerr back and glad to see him do well now especially as I had to defend him to SS and FB for doubting him! There was one Poole fan on X who used to moan about him non stop and during his rants found out it was because he just didn't like him (fair enough as impossible to like everybody!) But also because apparently he 'didn't care' which I think we can call out as complete BS. If he didn't care why would be hiding for first half of the superheat because too worried to watch or whatever.
