  1. Past hour
  2. How serious? It must be worrying with all that donner and blitzen around. Have they not heard of hair dryers. A job lot from Argos and half a dozen extension leads would have done the trick. No thinking outside the box is the problem with the sport😂 Oh well always got the next round of the European gold fish racing championship.
  3. Stick with the Stream and you can throw in an Indian +beer.👍 Also Weather proof😂
  4. Anyone know why Lebedevs was struggling. He's a tough rider, yet didn't seem to get to grips with BV. Can't remember how he did in last year's 2 meetings.
  5. It just shows the state the sport is in these days.... Almost zero margin for error... And is this a track owned by those who run Leicester?... If so, no rent to pay, yet still being cautious due to all the other costs involved... Does "Absence make the heart grow fonder?".... Meaning such long gaps between meetings result in good crowds due to missing the sport?... Or will it be more "out of sight, out of mind"?, and crowd numbers suffer?... Or, are we now solely down to the die hards only who turn up whenever, and accept whatever is put in front of them?.. If ever a sport needed a huge injection of cash, it is UK Speedway... Who from though? Given its inherent flaws and issues, is the several million dollar question...
  6. We have had 3 serious thunderstorms with very heavy downpours around here already today with more rain due tomorrow on top of that.
  7. They've lost my £25 anyway, as I booked my holiday away for that week as there was no home meeting in the fixture list!
  8. Think over two legs the Gladiators will have enough to win. Bears now look vulnerable without Wright.
  9. There hasn't been Speedway in Plymouth since May 16th. Fingers crossed the big crowds continue. Club have been promoting this one for a while and there's no clashing sport in the city other than the local cricket leagues which should be concluded by tapes up time.
  10. Today
  11. Speedway was profitable back then. Nowadays we fly in a load of riders from abroad
  12. It's normally much drier in Sept & Oct when the meetings will be run, silly trying to do that in late spring & summer..... In other news, recently watched the British Final from 84, run on a very wet Coventry with KC and his broken leg. So if we used to get meetings on in the wet before but don't bother now, what's the preference? For me, it's the former, with regular meetings on and postponements a rarity. I'm in the 1 point each and not re-run them camp to focus minds.
  13. Well.... Plenty on here moan about missing regular Speedway (like in the Good Old Days)... So. Pretty soon they will have Monday, Thursday, Monday, Thursday, Monday, Thursday, Monday, Thursday, at home every week for a whole month...😁
  14. Do you have an emergency supply of those Mondays and Thursdays you mentioned 😆
  15. Exactly. Fuel isn't the only cost: "Driving a petrol car in the UK costs roughly 15p to 20p per mile for fuel alone, depending on your vehicle's efficiency. However, the total running cost (including tax, maintenance, insurance, and depreciation) averages about 49p per mile. "
  16. Maybe a wee glitch in the BSP log? If -- and l don't think he is -- Mitch Cluff were to be unavailable, it's a fair bet the Monarchs wouldn't be picking Morgan as their guest. Anyway, have a good match. Winners going through to meet Berwick in the Final, eh?
  17. Confirmed teams and live updates Grindsted v Fjelsted https://rs.dmusport.dk/loeb/7457 Holsted v Slangerup https://rs.dmusport.dk/loeb/7458 Vojens v Brovst https://rs.dmusport.dk/loeb/7460 Region Varde v Esbjerg https://rs.dmusport.dk/loeb/7459
  18. The 49p per mile probably includes a very small percentage of Tax, Insurance and maintenance on top of just fuel costs.
  19. Massive weekend ahead possibly for the Gladiators as they push for a historic place in the KO Cup Final. Would be a fantastic reward for Mark Phillips, Barry Bishop, Garry May and every associated with Plymouth Speedway who are working hard to buck the trend of Speedway in this country. The buzz around home meetings now is great to see. Two good sides, this will be a cracking two-legged tie. Looking forward to covering this on Gladiators TV
  20. Bloody Buster again.. That man has a lot to answer for Oh, it's not him...Err Oh well, he must have something to do with it.... Surely On a serious note. I don't think most clubs can afford a rain off once all the riders have travelled any more. Even worse if a meeting gets abandoned after a few heats. Travel, points money/ guarentee, track rent for most.
