Before Birmingham and Oxford came into the Premiership, and while fears circulated that it could go down to 5 clubs, there were strong rumours (fuelled further by Phil Morris comments at the Coventry hearing) that Chris Louis could be interested in bringing a Premiership club to Northampton. As we are set to lose Birmingham and others are wobbling, could it be time to make Northampton a reality? One big league could never work. It would have to involve a sharing out of riders, but even if Belle Vue gave up one of Bewley/Kurtz, Ipswich gave up Doyle./Sayfutdinov, Sheffield gave up Holder/Holder, could the likes of Workington, Plymouth, or Berwick really afford Kurtz, Sayfutdinov or Holder? Of course not! So could Northampton be the Premiership saviour?

Next years plan will definitely be known... (You would hope)... With the play offs pretty much sorted (dont think they count average wise do they?), it would be an opportune time to prep for next season for those clubs... -

I don’t think one league would sit well with Chris. When you see how far he has brought the club from being on the verge of of selling to Buster to getting the backing & the right riders in to make it a success. For Emil & Jason who knows what is going on. Perhaps injures have finally caught up with Jason & Emil is having engine issues. Or maybe there is some average reduction going on. If it’s one league with only one rider above 8 permitted next year Emil on a sub 8 could be a master stroke. -

Spot on and the Ipswich promotion have always worked hard to get the backing needed to track a competitive team and you never hear of a rider not getting paid. All the years that I have been going, you know that Chris and John have always put heart and soul into making the witches a success. Other promotions could learn a thing or two from them when it comes to running a club. One minor concern is if it goes one league and the product is watered down that will not sit well with Chris. Maybe Emil and Jason’s recent performances could be down to being told that next year they cannot be fitted in so why bother busting a gut. Who knows but whatever the Witches do they will always have good support because they manage to create the feel good factor. -

🤔 Drivers will be unable to travel westbound across the Orwell Bridge in Suffolk overnight due to closures. National Highways said it needed to shut a lane in the contraflow system, which is in place from 20:00 until 06:00 BST, on the nights of 16 and 17 July. The eastbound carriageway through the contraflow is to remain open.
