Leicester Lions 2026
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv replied to TTT's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The Championship clubs didn't want it either though! -
Kicked out by Iwade like the previous team?
-
Thats the problem these days you have people who want to run Speedway at venues but you have miserable gits who own the land and because they are cretins refuse to let the people use the land. Absolute disgrace.
-
That would be down to the Kent promotion to say if they wish too..
-
Real shame.
-
So what were the unforeseen circumstances?
-
Had the same 3 heat leaders lined up too.
-
He's not granted but what I will say is that Douglas wasn't signed to be an out and out No.1. Stewart didn't want a long tail with Fricke at No.1, King's Lynn aren't gaining anything with a tail end of Paco, Rushen and Scott. Despite Leicester having no out and out No.1, The Lions should be very difficult to beat and score heat advantages against. Basically got..... 2 x Established PREM Heat Leaders (Douglas and Masters) 4 x Top end CHAMP Heat Leaders (D. Thompson, N. Morris, Howarth and Kemp?) I include Nick as he's on a false GSA imo. 1 x CHAMP 2nd String (Gilkes) who's one of the better RS's.

No Kent Eagles in 2026. Hope to be back in 2027. Described as due to unforeseen circumstances.

What about Northampton?

After all the "help" he gave IOW it would be hilarious. Also Mildenhall aren't opting to run under NORA, they can't get the track licenced by the SCB due to the highly questionable fence being used. - Today

Yes but Masters and Douglas are easily capable of beating everyone else apart from the opposition number one.
-
It’s a very poor Premiership. How they couldn’t have worked out a One League situation .
-
I realise that, you generally have to go a long way back in history to find a successful team that has competed without a genuine number 1, except for Peterborough which I've already gone over... especially with the current race format
-
Basically your dropping an out and out No1 for a strength in depth Team though. Can’t have it both ways with lower limit.
-
Not for me when the other number 1's are Holder, Bewley, Fricke and probably Kurtz to sign for somebody. Douglas is nowhere near that level at the moment.
-
Can't be any other reason surely 🤷♂️
-
Basically is a No.1 in a weaker League then where the Team Limit has dropped by 3.00 points. More 1st Places than 2nd, 3rd and 4th's both at Home and Away in a stronger League where the Team Limit was set at 40.00.
-
I personally think KL fans are overrating their own side due to them going with the Young Stars duo at reserve. Granted the youngsters are ones for the future but they've basically got no experience riding at PREM level so asking them to out gate and out race experienced season pro's is more than a long shot imo. Difference between racing against NDL or CHAMP 2nd Strings to riding against riders who ride against top quality opposition week in and week out whether it's in DEN, POL or SWE.
-
Maybe waiting for a work permit to be confirmed if a foreign 4 / 5 point rider is being signed 🤔

The one posted on Comets Facebook page

Rain affected Final in Wroclaw Handberg did indeed finish 3rd behind Havelock & Jonsson, I believe. Cross could have been World Champion in 1990 before he broke his back at the world pairs, never quite the same rider afterwards.
-
Agreed Bagpuss so long as they both don't start over riding in the early part of the season and avoid big smashes also they both should be core England regulars in 5-7 years.
-
Correct. The 11.46 figure includes 25 Sept v Leicester which is not included in the final GSA's And no his last Championship average is not relevant as he did not ride in the Championship in 2025.
-
Isn't his final Edinburgh GSA in 2024 relevant?
-
I prefer to look at his actual points scored rather than the concoction that the BSPL use...
