What about Northampton?
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
To be honest I’m not really bothered, I went to the IOW twice last year and will be going twice again this year, I raced for them for 2 years and was one of my favourite tracks to get too, I thought the ferry crossing was part of the fun -
In the main the football foundation & FA look to support amateur football clubs at national level local level. If your proposal was to use a football clubs ground/facility to incorporate a speedway track, then so long as you were not expecting the club to use funds via the FA/Football foundation to finance the new track or associated facilities then there is no immediate reason why the football club would not be entitled to either apply for new or continue with existing funded projects. I appreciate I am not aware of the full circumstances relative to your dealings with the two clubs and the devil maybe in the detail, but it might well be worth asking them what the specifics are as “ground sharing” by itself is not a restrictive issue to funding. Good luck.

Could someone who went to the STAARS meeting, tell us what was said? Thanks

Agreed... but don't they normally drip feed the actual fixtures out a month at a time rather than a whole seasons worth... ps. I love a conspiracy theory 😂

Getting very fed up with this cloak and dagger situation with Northampton. I actually don’t care now if they are they running or not. Five or six teams in the league, still crap. Regardless of where they are in preparation, at least make some sort of announcement to generate a degree of interest. I set up as a consultant a few years ago and never thought to keep it a secret and not tell anyone. Would love to hear the business strategy (if they have one?) of those in charge. -
Yes they did and I would have thought still will, I buy both at the reduced price. I doubt they can even sort their own schedule out right now with ought knowing the make up of the prem, must be a nightmare for them, just like everyone else!

Surely they would not shaft one of the best broadcasters of Speedway since Sky. Having said that most of those that run the sport are unscrupulous individuals and frankly nothing is credible any longer and they would shaft anyone. Those in charge never learn and have not got an ounce of sense between them. Cannot even have the balls to publish a fixture list and in failing to do so screw every club who have declare the intention to run. Those in charge are a shower of sh….

Probably... but some aren't interested in PL, they've been sold separately in the past haven't they?
-
I think its more to do with the fact they can't announce the full package yet

Would be good to have another track on the mainland though ! -
Less than a month before the start of the season and still nothing from BSN, even though the fixtures are now out for the CL... I wonder if the media rights holders (SFL) are either trying to sell them down the river in favour of another broadcaster, trying to extort more money out of them... or there's nothing to see here 👀

Yea without subsidy it’s £160 return per van, slighty cheaper for smaller van but still extortionate for the couple of miles that it is but still going to work out a lot cheaper than getting Northampton off the ground -

One of the most expensive car ferry routes per mile in the world would surely be the biggest problem with Ryde Speedway. Great set up and ideal for holidaymakers already the island. Always amazed at the exorbitant cost of travel to the mainland. -
My star on time his week, good stuff. Think Ford was maybe throwing a line or two, firstly I doubt very much the annual share out to each track following a World Final at Wembley was sufficient to buy a house. Also most promoters from years back did well financially, sure, but doubt many were in a position to buy their stadium, tho King's Lynn were and Glasgow did recently of course. John Berry mentions in one of his excellent Confessions Of A Speedway Promoter books that he offered to buy Foxhall Heath but the family who owned the stadium refused to sell....
-
I am not sure it is the right answer anyway.... I hardly think a Premiership Promoter will know... After all... If they did, they would surely have told their punters by now wouldn't they?

This is what we have been told by 2 football clubs, I must stress these were amatuer clubs not professional league clubs
-
Isn’t there a STAARS meeting tonight, wonder if there’ll be any update on the Ipswich buy out and Northampton if it’s going be a yes or no? Assuming the Tigers Ten tickets will get a push or two with Sheffield like the other clubs desperate for some sort of income ahead of the season

And we are running a fantastic opening night competition.... So to win it. Just answer this simple question... Does anyone know when it is??!!!!!
-
Think you’ve been fed a line there. Ground sharing with another sport does not automatically stop a football club in the UK from receiving funding from the Football Association or the Football Foundation In many cases, it is actively encouraged. However one of the qualifying criteria is that the funding must be football led I.e in the case of new changing rooms they should be suitable for the football club to benefit from first and foremost.

Northern Junior League 2026
Technik replied to bigdave's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
For me it doe's not matter if teams are completed with guests at this level so long as those doing the racing are getting track time & enjoying their racing. There are not enough clubs that offer any form of second half racing. Weather the public choose to stay behind after the main meeting or not is not important. When we were young & looking to be the next World Champion to travel to Milton Keynes Weymouth Reading Iwade or Eastbourne on a weekend just to get as many laps in as we could or until we ran out of fuel was what we did & never received a penny for it. The NJL is doing a fantastic job giving all these riders a chance on a race night & maybe one day one of them might be the next 6 time world Champion, everyone has to start somewhere!!! -

Webber would certainly have the kind of bags needed, can't imagine Crumpie would be looking to put anything in if he was involved given he has seen over the years how much promoters have lost money wise, all be it he earned well from his time in the UK. -
