Well enjoyable meeting for in some ways - the racing was fairly close in a few heats and there was one or two really good overtaking moves, heat 5 in particular was very good. Aces fell away due to lack of support for the top 3 - Blodorn having a mare right now! Flint and Rowe certainly make the Tigers really strong at home as they back up the heatleaders so well, Morris seems to have picked up well after his layoff also.

OK so it's ultimately the riders who have to go out and perform I get that, but surely Middleditch has to shoulder some responsibility for how the team "go" too. From the outside Speedway seems set up as "all turn up on the night and see how it goes". When do riders get to practice, trial set ups/equipment, and do team managers do more than decide who rides when, or do they help people manage as well. IMO a bit of team managing could go a long way towards sorting individual riders issues and to delivering better team performances.

Leicester vs Oxford PL R2 11/08/25 19:30

I was getting weather warnings about thunderstorms just before I left home so I was keeping an eye on the radar all night and the rain that was heading up north was just about running out of steam as it got to Leicester. The dirt did get wide and Magic was pulling some massive lines especially around turns 1 & 2 out of the gate, thought he was quite impressive last night... compared to his last visit to BP. -

There was, but a sprinkle wouldn't have hurt midway through I think. It got so bad the last couple of heats I gave up trying to write in my program, my pen just wouldn't write. I noticed as well that the dirt line got so wide that even Max Fricke couldn't do anything with it in the later heats, like I say it was a shame because the first few heats had some good passing in. -

Trouble is there was rain showing on the radar as approaching, so to water it could have been folly... not that anybody seemed to realise this at the pace the meeting was run! - Today

Dust was terrible towards the end of the meeting. Shame because the first few heats had some good racing. -
Ipswich by 20+ Kurtz won't take any risks now as he's got a serious chance of becoming WC this year, Bewley will score a few and Lidsey will chip in if he makes a Gate. Don't expect anything from Blodorn, Cook, Zischke or Mulford.

Quite right BB, I haven't found anything that I've liked for a good few weeks now.

Etheridge for Gusts at 2 and Hagon for Knudsen at 7. Gusts would not be as free scoring as last time in any case even if he was available. -

Zach and Anders (who may be suffering from injury) need to up their performances, particularly out of the gate. I appreciate track conditions haven't been ideal but it's the same for both teams and Workington and Plymouth both were close to us despite injured riders!!! Tobias always tries but is also struggling. Will and Paul are doing their jobs. -
Looking at the current GSA’s and taking into account Dan’s Brit reduction for next season, we can keep six of this years team and replace Cook with Zagar. Fair play is The Aces way, sadly lacking in our sport and life in general imo. Leon is still young. He’s only 16 months older than Norick. Had a read of updates and I’ve seen the Brady race on social media but apart from this and the world number four passing their RS for second, is their anything else I’ll miss after the first seven seconds of the heat if I don’t watch the “highlights” on Dmax?

I enjoyed my visit to Berwick, a few decent races. The £3.50 programme was daylight robbery, that sort of thing pisses off the fans, god knows what a new fan would make of it. -
