Can't disagree with that real shame he's had such bad luck with injuries recently as although he's no longer the force he was at the top table in the UK league in 2024 he was winning races with his eyes closed.

As a local Essex boy he should be with Arena but we cannot beat Google at the moment! He will do well at Poole. -
Sad news. Best wishes to Michael and the Lee family.

Seriously though if the Hearns did want to get involved in Speedway (which I'm pretty sure they don't) then the SGP series would probably be the way to go. It has a proven track record by the previous promoters to WBD staging events in big stadia at destination cities attracting big crowds and you could argue was on the cusp of going mainstream at that time, so it's been proven that it can be done and an audience is out there, the series is just missing the characters for the public to get involved with, the razzamataz, the hype etc.
-
OK I'll get 'Arry to give Barry and Eddie a call on the blower. Its a touch...
-
I know... but they are outdoor as are the big boxing shows, probably more like staging a SGP than a league programme.
-
Maybe, but both are either one week events or are over and done (bust!)!!

Surely you've heard all about Fish-O-Mania, live on Sky Sports Action, with it's £50k first prize? https://fishomania.net/news/bradley-lucas-crowned-2025-fishomania-champion-in-record-breaking-debut/ Anyway, you can catch the Premiership on BSN next season. First prize is £2.50 and a voucher for the track shop.

If people think a speedway track is something they don’t want there is a new menace coming down the road for green belt land and that is solar battery facilities and there is one being proposed about 5 miles from the proposed cradley track although it does fall under another council and they are going to spring up all over the place over the next 5 years ruining the green landscape - Today

I'd imagine they'd save a fortune doing this, especially as there'd be about 12 people watching every week. -
Maybe financial considerations. Sounds like most teams lost big bucks this year and with rumours of no tv deal must be terrified.
-
i can only see a 36 limit for 5 riders and have 2 rising stars they cant fight and fight for one league and then lower the limit when they get there way surely.............. or can the
-
What would be the reason for a 36 point limit? If there's less clubs then no reason to lower the limit. Unless it's to encourage Champ clubs to step up / Northampton to join in?
-
If the rumours are true and it looks like with a low points limit maybe at the back of all the promoters mind is replace your existing number one with another rising star and you will save a massive amount of money has I have head in some cases what a number one gets at some clubs is about the same as the other two heat leaders get combined.

Non except the track, maybe changing rooms as a permanent building, the rest will be containers for storing equipment, it will look similar to Workington which to anyone who has been there looks like a country park with a track in the middle, you won’t see it off the road and wouldn’t know it was there, no it’s not straightforward and the council certainly aren’t making it straightforward -
What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Quoted as it highlights the financial position of the sport Here's a stark comparison which shows the gulf with football 10 miles from Ipswich is Needham Market. They play in the Southern League - effectively the 7th tier in the English game Yesterday they opened a new stand which cost £358,000 to build funded primarily by grants provided by the Premier League (£150k) and Southern League (£100k) and other agencies including £10k from local councils The stand apparently holds under 300 fans but would accommodate most of the average attendance. The game last night attracted their record attendance at 1105 -
Do they? If so, a great idea... Reward success rather than give out top money guarantees regardless of performance...

Not necessarily that straightforward for greenbelt. Still needs a strong planning justification for the site. Will it interfere with the openness of the greenbelt? What buildings/structures are being planned? -
Really? And don't they pay handsome bonuses for certain wins?
