  1. Past hour
  2. To be honest I don’t understand why stoke never run out of Buxton, most of the Buxton fans were stoke ones
  3. I started going in 1985 and probably finished going regularly in 1991/2,even in 85 you could see things were on the turn Penhall who was a massive draw had retired, Dennis Sigalos who was the heir apparent had a bad ankle injury and was never the same again retiring soon after at a young age. Mike Lee was never as good on his post 85 come back and had several stop start years before leaving the scene, PC, Chris Morten, Dave Jessup, Tiger Louis were all towards the end of their careers. The Lynn team only really had Bob Schwartz as a top rider with the odd flash of the real Lee but we got battered most weeks home and away all be it the crowds in general held up pretty well but it just seemed at that point a lot of the big names had left or were past their peak. The Sky deal should have been the big reset but as others have said the money flowed out to the number one's with nothing reinvested into the general infra-structure. We have also lost a lot of big names in the last 5-10 years as well Crump, Ward, Hancock, Gollob, Adams just a few off the top of my head. Such a shame as the last four heats of the world team cup a couple of years back show that on a decent track with top riders what a quality sport it still can be.
  4. It did happen back in the day, I can remember Neil Evitts doing it at wolves in the latter stages of his career and it really annoys me and last night even though musielak is a friend he annoyed me too, it’s unacceptable imo, it doesn’t happen in Poland because the 3rd place rider will only get paid a bonus point if he finished behind his partner and ahead a finished 4th place rider so it’s respect from the 4th place rider to finish, there was an race a few weeks back where Nicki Pedersen pulled up on last lap while 4th and didn’t cross the finish line and went back to pits so the rider who finished 3rd didn't get paid a bonus point and it was not popular with other riders and fans alike
  5. It's a shame somehwere centralish couldn't be found so Wolves, Brum and Stoke could use it collectively with each team running in the 3 seperate leagues. Maybe a complete BS idea but worth a reply, lol
  6. Just to clarify about people being turned away last night, the stadium has a capacity that is set by the local authority and has to be adhered to by the stadium manager and the appointed safety officer. The club widely advertised advanced tickets which were available at 4 previous Brum meetings and online via Try Bookings and almost 600 were purchased ahead of last night. Everyone with a pre-paid ticket was accommodated AFAIK. Unfortunately, at just before 7.25 pm the legislated stadium capacity was reached. So the perimeter gates were closed, no one in the entry queue at that time was denied access to the stadium and the decision at all times was that of the safety officer and stadium manager, who have to ensure they legally follow protocol. I understand a small number of fans couldn't gain access to the stadium grounds and that of course is disappointing for them and I understand their frustrations/anger, but unfortunately the club couldn't overrule the decision. The promotion have got many things wrong over the 4 years with which I have been involved with the club and I can't disagree with most of what has been said on this forum, but in this instance it was out of the club's control. It was a fantastic turn out to say goodbye to Perry Barr.
  7. Hopefully the track is better but in lieu of it being Poole I will taper any expectation.
  8. Its interesting that with all the changes over the last three season with regards to who is which clubs rising star, some things do not change. Leicester still have the poorest rising star.
  9. Glasgow must have signed Nagel knowing he was going to miss so many fixtures. Makes speedway look silly, there should be a rule to prevent this kind of thing.
  10. You would not have won with Brady, Peterborough were much stronger then and Brady wasn't the rider he is now.
  11. Weeyin Its not Nagels faulty he is missing some matches, as he is already committed to riding in Denmark on Wednesdays.
  12. Rip Bob Tasker. What a true gentleman and I met him filming at Sheffield and he let me watch some of the action from his view point.
  13. Today
  14. Not sure it was the SCB who shared it on social media.........could be wrong ?
  15. Booked hotels for September 7th. Ready to follow Pirates up north. ☠️
  16. Actually 2 different organisations, it was the BSPL that put it on their socials not the SCB, but... as proven, especially over the last couple of years, the SCB does exactly what the BSPL wants, so yes I'm inclined to agree. The integrity of our sport is so corrupt at times!
  17. I started going to Speedway in 1967 and went every week from 1968 onwards to Canterbury, Reading, Oxford, Eastbourne,Arena/Lakeside but stopped going after Poole decided to buy their way to the top every year. I firmly blame Matt Foord for the decline of speedway over the last few years. Also the other promoters for allowing all of the underhand shenanigans once the play offs started. Grand prix riders signed to replace second strings, Chris Harris riding in more play off matches than any other rider. This destroyed the remaining credibility of speedway. I'm afraid that it will not regain credibility back in the near future unless there are huge changes. I do not believe the general public will ever accept speedway all the time riders ride for two or sometimes three different teams, this just does not compute with any possible newcomer.
  18. this same scam organisation shared the footage on all there socials, let that sink in, shame on them
  19. Id say 1500 maybe a bit more Possibly though the reduced "covid" capacity is still in place as indeed it was at Monmore
  20. I get the feeling that you may be right.
  21. Nope he was top class for belle vue, he had a poor year last year and has stepped up again this year.
  22. Oh bore off, no point talking to someone who just constantly wants to argue every point. Of course Sheffield thought they could win. We might get stuffed still 14 times champions though.
  23. Not the point i was making, maybe read the post i replied to, to understand the context. I was simply giving examples of how every team has had to endure injurys, sometimes teams win regardless, sometimes it effects them, its life, but some continue to moan about there 1 year it effected them. We were never winning in 2021 once Brady got injured, but hey that's life, we over came adversity the year after when we had 2 riders missing for the final 2nd leg.
  24. Not a great advert for speedway. It was very one-sided given that neither team made the play-offs. The track seemed very dusty and it was all about the gating - although there was some limited passing. It was easy to see why KL beat OXF in all of their league meetings this year. Much the same as OXF have done to BIR.
