This stream auto-updates

  1. Past hour
  2. Too busy posting on the forum more like 😜😀
  3. Can’t make it across to this one so will follow the updates. Two good looking teams. Think whichever 1 and 5 can score the most will win their team the meeting. Going 48-42 home win
  4. Blimey, never mind just the rider's health, 10% of that amount could do wonders for the sport's health!
  5. I found that odd also. Second choice of gates and picked the worst.
  6. Today
  7. Links for today: https://vk.com/video-234681448_456239080 More to follow closer to start time...
  8. Hopefully this meeting is able to be run safely as it's a cracking line up. Early season but hopefully they don't force it if too tricky.
  9. Interesting to read that other Premiership Promoters now have a ‘vested interest’ in the club so which promoter will be named as the ‘Tutor’ as all new promoters are supposed to have one ? Sounds like going back to the old days when one promoter ran several clubs . Do recall that not being within the rules but that book is simply ‘advice’ these days it seems.
  10. That's the race night+ experience. You can have normal admission for £25, or £23 if entitled to concession.
  11. I’d agree with that and it would no doubt help in speedways much needed aspect of creating personalities, good & bad for fans to engage with.
  12. Can’t approve a track that they haven’t finished building yet .
  13. Is it really the case that people won’t attend due to the name Foxes? If so I’m either really laid back or out of touch with modern sensibilities. I just hope Mark doesn’t bring along his bleedin’ podium.
  14. So Leicester were called the Hunters at the same time as the Brafield Flying Foxes existed. 😉 Far from it being an 'attempted appropriation' or a 'lack of local knowledge', it is historically accurate in returning to the name of the original team that rode at the same stadium. Most 'older' stock car fans still refer to the stadium as Brafield rather than Northampton.
  15. Looking at the fixture at Owlerton, is it correct that the only Adult tickets available online are £35? Ouch! I’ll be 10mins away that day so will pop along to enjoy the racing.
  16. And used to be called "Hunters" because of the county's association with Foxes and Fox Hunting
  17. I know Northampton/shire quite well. Has always seemed to consist of multiple identities to me. East Midlands? East Anglia? Greater London? Scots over in Corby. Landowning wealth in rural towns and villages. A mish mash of those plus a growing immigrant population. Whichever direction you take when leaving Northampton, youre going into a different area with its own, stronger, identity. Names of sports clubs do matter, and i suspect those behind this project have very limited knowledge of the East Midlands. Id advise them to have a rethink!
  18. Look at Berwick there is a bear on town coat of arms but we are called Bandits
  19. The protected properties legalisation is only applicable in the area of that you protect which in Northamptonshire is Rugby and unsure if football have even done that.
  20. From all the old pictures I have seen, riders were much more easily identified in the 'good old days,' with the race jackets being the kit. I would personally have no problem with riders wearing individual kevlars, as the sport hasn't exactly grown since the introduction of team kevlars.
  21. It depends what you call the 'good old days' because to me the 'good old days' were exactly the days when every team member did wear the team colours - black leathers and a team race jacket. Well I say every team member wore black leathers but there was always the odd maverick such as Nigel Boocock and Mike Broadbanks (as he was then!)
  22. Yep I think more than anything else Polish sparring/pre season camps have screwed us over gradually. The Polish megabucks mean riders will ask how high to jump and dor the time being there is very little we can do about it.
  23. I don't think it's too much to ask and expect to know where the money is going, just like other charity appeals, Children in Need & Comic Relief always show on their shows how some of the money is spent, it may even help with donations, but as usual with Speedway, information is very hard to come by. Alongside their undoubtedly much needed grants that have been given, have been a couple of reports, in recent times, of how money has been spent for, at best, more dubious reasons that don't really fall within their stated aims. 🤔 All I'm saying is a little transparency is a good thing, especially when asking for people's hard earned.
  24. While I respect the views of the 'good old days' brigade I think we are way past the point where random bikes and kevlars for team mates are acceptable or appropriate for our sport or any other which claims to be professional. British speedway gets plenty of things wrong but the correct team image is vital with social media, live streaming/TV and merchandise sales etc. Can't think of any other team sport where a side looks like waifs and strays and doesn't all wear the same kit.
  25. £121k was paid out to 33 beneficiaries in 2024 and the Ben Fund has assets of nearly £2M which suggests it could sustain its donations for approx 15 years without any further income.
