Brennan winning heat 9 felt like a key moment for Ipswich. Coming off the back of conceding that 5-1 in the previous race, he hadn't looked particularly quick himself at that point so it seemed like a great opportunity for Belle Vue to extend their lead to 10. He did a decent job in 13 as well to hold off Bewley long enough that he didn't have time to chase Sayfutdinov. Doyle deservedly rider of the night though, excellent from him in his last 3 rides especially. -

And if Kings Lynn had a 9 pointer instead of one of their 6 points they'd have to replace another 6 pointer with a 3 pointer. Completely different team. Replace two of their riders with Zischke & Bewley and tell me if you think that team is likely to finish above any of the 4 teams who did make the playoffs. -

Blodorn has had cover at second string since being an Ace with Tom B and B Cook.. This year, with Z Cook taking a good while to get going he has had more pressure... Other years he has been able to drop down to reserve one or two times a season to help him regain some confidence if needed.. This year with the two Aces reserves running so low averages he hasn't had that opportunity... -

That's the thing about "3 and 4" that many don't get... It's their total points when together that can change a meeting.. Both positive and negative... Doyle was moved for exactly that reason when Dan T was put at four... Ipswich were far more confident he would cover Dan than Tom B would... Lidsey wasn't the issue, the issue was clearly the bottom three who are quite possibly the bottom three riders left in the competition... When you go into any two leg race off against a "good side" you simply cannot carry that level of rider and hope to prevail... As I have said, I am amazed the Aces won given how out of their depth (and that is at home, not even away), almost 43% of their team are... So, fair play to the other four for the win on the night... -

I was one of those predicting a bigger victory for the Aces. Maybe, like Lemon, I was expecting Blodorn to score what he's capable of - I seem to remember him putting some big scores in in previous seasons, I wonder what's gone wrong there? I also witnessed Ipswich riders' lack of confidence at Foxhall and the defeat to Sheffield exemplified this. Although it's still not over, Ipswich are obviously strong favourites now. -

Beaten twice by an impressive Doyle, once by Brennan in the heat where Cook dropped his only point of the night and by Thompson who of course in his previous visit beat Kurtz So 5 paid 7 where your main partner scores 11 out of 12 isn't so shabby in reality - Today

I would have snapped your hand off for 10/12 at the end of Heat 8. I thought it was a tremendous team performance to draw the second half. -

Pull up as many stats as you want. 5+2 at home in a playoff sf isnt good enough for an experienced rider. -

Fair play to Ipswich a fully deserved result. To be honest at the mid point of the meeting I was just hoping that somehow we'd get a home win. Blodorn and Mulford gave me a little bit of hope, but the Witches fought back well and rode sensibly. Doyle in particular had a great meeting. Virtually no chance for the Aces on Thursday but always thought that we're the fourth best team in the playoffs. On to next season with several changes for Belle Vue, irrespective of the league structure. -

Belle Vue will be fired up to hit us early. We need a strong start to eat in to their lead from the get go to take the wind out of their sails. The quicker we overhaul that 6 point deficit and build a bit of a lead ourselves, the more relaxed everyone will be. If we start sluggishly like we have at times, and that 6 point deficit becomes 8 and then double figures fairly early on, we’ll then all start getting twitchy especially fresh from that poor performance at home last week. You can then start chasing a bit too hard and that’s where mistakes can crop up. Need Emil to do a number on Kurtz in heat 1 and King to beat his opposite number for a heat advantage to set the tone for the evening. Let’s hope the rain doesn’t spoil it… -
Not many have away from Glasgow, as he is usually in another country 😛
