  1. Past hour
  2. Apparently there is going to be u24s in Poland now. Heard it on one of the podcasts last week.
  3. I agree its cringe mainly because its just a couple of people doing it and it sounds inane - if 15,000 are doing so it's very different!! I was always a big fan of the air horns at Arena as being a disused works or pit - whatever it was they were fine for use there, sadly at Foxhall they are banned! There used to be an air horn user at owlerton but they either gave up or stopped coming a long time ago!
  4. Too right.....awfully football style chanting...almost cringe worthy outside of football
  5. 2 Leagues move Poole up let them ride on a Wednesday. Championship 8 teams 2H 2A 14 home meetings guaranteed. Designated dates like football for Cup meetings Redcar beat us {Berwick } in 1/4 Final in May riding Semi-Final 4 months later unreal.
  6. It’s absolutely pointless comparing it to football. We don’t have the following, certainly in this country, to keep people interested in 2 home meetings a month. Football has millions of fans in the country, speedway be lucky if there’s 10% of that amount of people who attend regularly. If it is one big league, then the clubs and bspa need to lay down the law to the riders. If you signed for a British club before anyone else, then that league takes priority. I get Poland pays the big bucks, but it’s about time someone put them back in there box. They tried being sly a few years back and that soon got overruled. If not, it’s simple, the riders who want to ride over here will, the ones who don’t, well, see ya later. With the polish u24 league not running after this season, there’s going to be a lot of young riders wanting spots over here, a select few may find themselves riding in the second or third division over there. A rotation of a week at home and a week away wouldn’t wash with me. I want to see weekly action at my home track, I’ve known people lose interest because there was a 2 or 3 week gap between meetings. And before anyone says about going away, try going to a midweek track, when my nearest is 2 and a half hours away, working full time and having a family.
  7. This seems good - I much prefer people who qualify for the series than wildcards.
  8. Some of us are certainly NOT "we are the peepul" , although probably about 80% of Glasgow fans are
  9. Today
  10. still not answering the question it was not Sheffield that called the meeting off last Thursday
  11. the not enough riders are a myth, there are plenty willing to ride over here but sometimes i dont think these clubs make an effort, there is 2 riders that i know of that want to come over and they made clubs aware but nobody made any effort to get them over, how many more riders out there are like that the danes for starters are strongly advised to race uk in there early years also making it 5/6 man teams would allow for less double uppers, it was only a few weeks ago that you had wright racing for oxford then the next night or maybe a couple of nights later hes racing for his redcar team against oxford, crazy and makes the sport look amateurish
  12. Insufficient number of riders at a similar capable (safe) level for this to be possible. Currently average is circa 3 double ups per team.
  13. This so: 7 from SGP 1 from SEC 5 from GP Challenge 3 WC's The wildcard is to counteract injuries that put people out of the GP Challenge. Imagine if Fricke and Lambert collide in Heat 1 in Vojens, both out of the GP & the challenge a fortnight later as Thomson makes the Vojens final. Suddenly two guys would be out of 2026 through a matter of timing. Admittedly, most of the time those WC's would end up going to the Huckenbeck's & Kvech's of this world but it helps prevent the above, or Zmarzlik being out of the 2026 & 27 World Championship if he get's carted into in an Extraliga meeting in May next year and is out for 2026.
  14. Interesting to see the venue is titled Manchester Belle Vue Sports Village and Belle Vue Leisure Centre . Guess only speedway folk know the place by its sub title NSS which is not good for attracting new customers.
  15. Tonight start time 6pm UK time. 20 heats normal scoring 3, 2, 1, 0 Match points given at end 1st 4 2nd 3 3rd 2 4th 1 any ties- half points given.
  16. Come on! Have you not seen the Bend 2 Barmy Army! It's everything UK Speedway is 😂
  17. Pride of the east taking place Thursday October 2nd. NL standard riders including Rushen, Scott, Cairns etc.
  18. It would probably help if Mr Morris was in attendance at both of these meetings to ensure there's no faffing about, as when he's present at these doubtful Speedway meetings they seem to have an uncanny knack of actually going ahead!
  19. for 2026 i think it will be 2 leagues and if it is then limit to only one double up rider per team as a drastic action to make teams evenly match it might be worth thinking about bringing back rider control, but with the human rights act that probably wont happen instead of guests every team can sign squad riders from abroad but to save costs, each club can invest in a club bike and when these riders are called upon they can use the club bike and club mechanic, like poland do let every rider have practice before the meeting so that the tracks are race ready from heat one and all riders have a chance of finding the set up early, should stop these batterings if the away team can find the set up early. id drop the rising star scheme personally, but if they are to keep it then i think the other reserve must be a british u24 rider they are just some basic changes, there is obviously a lot more needed but i will leave that debate to people that know what they are talking about
  20. The guys just need to stay safe & not take any risks if this goes ahead. looking at the forecast it looks doubtful if this will be on, if it is postponed when is this going to be run by Monday. Also given the Ipswich home meeting must be doubtful with the forecast in this part of the world this might also need rescheduling before Monday.
  21. Yesterday
  22. I agree. I've just come back from a weekend there. One of the most striking differences is the age profile of the crowd - but also that the older generation also join in with the chanting and scarf waving. Was the racing better at the league match better than here? Probably not
  23. Yes, agree with you there. The tribal thing with team and supporter connection is fundamental to working class sports such as football. That level of passion will never be witnessed currently in British speedway which relies (due to rider shortage) on guests and doubling up, thus diluting the rider/team connection.
  24. I’d be more happy if Sheffield rode that night this was called off. Like they did against us in the final when it suited them.
  25. Speedway in Poland is the complete opposite of the uk. It’s a proper professional sport that brings in crowds sponsors & tv money. No Micky mouse rules guest feats etc. It allows a proper connection between the team & the supporters giving the tribal aspect. This leads to the chanting & people wanting to wear the club scarfs etc Its everything uk speedway should be.
  26. To be honest there isn’t any option now. To few riders to little investment over many years, no real development programme & to few opportunities to ride. The sport has gone to far down the road to failure to turn around now.
