Ipswich v. Northampton 6/8
lucifer sam replied to norbold's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think the only way Ipswich could have used R/R last night, was to claim Lawson was with-holding his services and a 28-day-ban should follow -
On a more positive note, how good was it to see Adam Ellis on fire. As many said last night he should have been in our side from the start.

Yes I kind of agree with this, however some people either don't think properly in a 'crisis' or don't often think that certain methods / reporting of obligations should be followed. As an employer I've had all manner of staff over the years fail to inform their employer / me of work availability for a range of things some frivolous some serious. Even when experiencing the most serious of problems I have always felt it proper to ensure my employers knew the situation as soon as possible and not just before I am due to get into work. Regardless of last night I am 100% sure no Lawson for 2027 at Foxhall which is a shame as he has been a very consistent rider over the years and when he was at Arena he was a bit of a hero. -
His story just doesn't add up. As others have said he could have called in a lot earlier to say he was having problems. Not good enough and not the first time. No respect for his club or team mates. If someone is available or about to become available then he needs to go.

Have a good meeting, see you both in play offs. Seem to be too many injuries this year. Poole tomorrow using R/R and 2 guests. Kevin and Jan heading to Berwick ☠️☠️ -

Vinnie Foord guests in place of Jordy. Reid Battye? Has he even seen Armadale? Certainly never raced there. Surprised it isn't Dayle Wood guesting. Kyle replacement, per the rules tonight is 11th league match, so 75% of fixtures (BSN + league). Tigers have to declare replacement before tonights meeting or they cannot make any changes. So replacement should be public knowledge soon - Today

The weej found another one that doesn’t fancy or can’t ride the Dale in Mario. I’m sure he’ll make a swift recovery. 😂 Moving on from the apparent injury. Fancied us to win tonight, with Jordy being out is a big loss at reserve as been scoring really well at home and with Kye potentially still being unfit to ride or if he does ride not fully fit could be a lot closer than it should be. -
I think Stevelyric is correct on this one. It was often the case years ago that riders would prefer a slick dustbowl to a nice grippy track. Tim Stone often got quizzed on why the track was always so slick every Sunday at Newport and he would always reply that riders wanted it like that. I remember one year Stonehewer nearly having a seizure when he seen the water bowser going out with the tractors. I guess its safer for riders rather than a deep, grippy track. Who knows.

After reading Lawsons statement, though, I guess the rumor going round is false? The rumor I heard was Lawson called Hurry to tell him he was going to be late and miss heat one, so Hurry called him a few expletives and Lawson turned round and went home.

The previous comments are correct we have debated the fact that something needs to happen since I joined the forum a couple of years ago. It always appears to be that the Promoters cant see the bleeding obvious. It doesnt matter how well their track / team is doing if theres no opposition to ride against, for me riding against the same four or five teams isnt entertaining and definitely not when riders are in multiple teams. I dont know the answer but a premier and championship format isnt it. One big league, smaller teams maybe 5 riders, no doubling up. I think the concept of supporting a team is not as strong now because teams seem to be more fluid with guests etc.

I don't think anyone will argue that its right to prioritise your family over everything However this situation doesnt seem to have just appeared out of nowhere at tea time and as a professional sportsman the very least expected would be timely communication Informing the club only 2/3 hours before tapes up is unacceptable Perhaps a bit more controversial/devil's advocate observation. Could the fact that he couldn't find any help from family/friends be linked to his general attitude and apparent ease of falling out with people? (Pure conjecture on my part) -
Think the main issue with Lawson yesterday was the timing of letting ipswich know Despite his post saying they tried, at least give ipswich a heads up maybe that morning "Hey boss, my wife isn't well, we're trying to arrange help but if we can't i will have to miss tonight and look after my child" Not just phone a few hours before the meeting and drop it

Maybe he is telling the truth, afterall he has been ultra reliable year in year out for nearly two decades now.
-
Don't think any team is winning the league with NKI and Bomber in there. Way passed their best at the top level now and too inconsistent. As much as they have been class performers over the years, especially Iversen, you won't win the league with both of them in the side.

Sad news...remember when he signed for Oxford which sadly didn't work out. RIP

If considered withholding services it should be 28 days If accepted as a non speedway injury/illness type situation it should be 7 days -
It is very sad news that another Stadium seems to be lost and the Eagles and Brummies had great rivalries in the 70's parts of the 80's and also in NDL around a decade ago, and I always felt both were forced in to the CL in 2018 with little thought as to how they may survive. The speed and nature of this announcement though clearly has nothing at all to do with Speedway recent past or more distant past. Spedeworth would have the funding and knowledge to have continued until at least the end of their season and it's completely illogical link the speed of closure in any way to Housing. I don't buy the contaminated land issue though and Housing might be the ultimate reason as it's clear Housing is needed nationally and locally and if the uber contaminaed old Birmingham Wheels Site can de de contaminated I'm sure a rural bit of East Sussex would be a piece of cake for a significant investor. Dear old Peter Mason who knew the Stadium and area very well told me he and David had been offered a lease several times and he would not touch it with a barge pole. Too many good Promoters had lost fortunes there in the past and Bob always had to go to his dad / brothers and get a 30-50k hand out at the end of every season to cover losses. It was a bit of a family toy for as long as Bob was alive he used to say. Whilst rumours abound and it's certainly a family with a long history of fractures and splits Peter used to tell me, I do wonder if the speed of the decision has anything to do with the fact that parts of the Dugard Machine Tool Business has in the past year been Liquidated and/or Dissolved and a new phoenix Company with Eric Dugard been set up in the past months with no other Dugards involved. I've found an article where he comments that up to a dozen ex family shareholders are no longer part of the new phoenix Company. Was / Is the Stadium held as a "charge" or asset by various Lenders? If that is the case, it may be that not only all is not lost, but that any prospective buyer may wish to re-engage Stock Cars and Speedway at some point in the future? That may be a glimmer of hope for all.

Put in track for the event- well used to putting it in so should be A 1 -
They said that about Arena Essex and eight years later the site remains untouched, for sure it will take an enormous amount of ground work if they are to build anything on it.
