Doubling up is the sport’s biggest problem for me. Whilst you could accuse riders of being greedy, they are only going along with what the controlling body permits. For that reason, you cannot blame riders for wanting to maximise their earnings. We all know that Premier League footballers are paid obscene money…..but if someone is prepared to offer these amounts? The BSPA are afraid of the (short term) consequences of doing away with doubling up, but it is essential for the future of the sport if it is to move forward. As I’ve said previously, riders should only be allowed to double up if they’ve been kicked in the b*lls.

Mayfield Sports Events Ltd. is indeed a different company from Mayfield Sports Management Ltd. The latter now trades as Junefield Associates Ltd. It was subject to a winding up petition (when called Mayfield Sports Management Ltd.) in November 2024 by Craft Bamboo Holdings Ltd., who claimed to be the main creditors of the company. No results of the hearing in early 2025 were published and - as the company still exists - one can presume the case was either withdrawn or thrown out. Now, where the lines become blurred, is the fact that a third company called Mayfield Motor Sports Ltd. owns 75% of the shares of Mayfield Sports Events Ltd. (which has been an active company since 2017). Interestingly, Anoushka Coleman is listed as the sole director of that. There was also a winding up petition launched against Mayfield Sports Events Ltd. by The Nexthash Group Ltd. in 2024. However, this was dismissed in court. -
International Test Matches

Presumably the idea would be to run the series on Monday or Thursday nights so all the riders would be available. I could see TV being interested more than they are in league racing. Draw decent crowds and it'll look much better on TV. There is an imbalance in the teams so maybe employ a grading system? GP riders 4 grade points, PL heat Leaders grade 3, Under 25's grade 1, Under 21's grade zero and anyone else grade 2. Build a team of 8 to 16 grade points. 4's Kurtz, J Holder, Bewley, Lambert, Doyle, Fricke, Woffinden 3's Lidsey, Brennan, Douglas, Masters, Pickering 2's Z Cook, King, Ellis, Lawson, Harris, B Cook, Howarth, Wright, Tungate, C Cook, C Holder, Morris, Nicholls, Allen 1's Rew, D Thompson, Edwards, Kemp, Rowe, Flint, McDiarmid, Bowes 0's Zischke, Harrison, Loftus, Cairns, Rushen, Scott, Bailey Not an exhaustive list and I might have gotten some ages wrong but you get the idea. GB: Bewley, Lambert, Woffinden, Harris, Thompson, Rowe, Cairns, Rushen vs AUS Kurtz, J Holder, Lidsey, Cook, Rew, McDiarmid, Bowes, Zischke Might be a fair contest and better product. Better chance of covering for injuries as well and less expensive for the promoters but you're still delivering a bona fide international test match. Appreciate Internationals should be unlimited but these days you have to think about the product and nobody is going to want to see another Aussie free for all. -
No but to be fair you don’t get 14 riders of that standard in the national league either. Only the heat leaders

Those in charge of the sport have created their own self inflicted nadir. It is not just about Ipswich or Mayfield (assuming they are officially the new owners of the Witches) it is collectively where the sport goes from here. Club owners/promoters are treating loyal supporters with such contempt, riders think the punters owe them a living and the up and coming talent is squeezed out by the double uppers who selfishly could not care one iota about the pipe stream of potential talent that is trying to break into the sport. Promoters, management and double uppers are the ruinous tribe who are bringing the sport to its knees and for it to survive a radical shake up is needed. Ipswich have ignited an issue but in reality the sport is on its knees and things need to change.

You're totally missing the point ! If they cant lay on a buffet, how the heck do you expect Coleman / Mayfield to run the SGP, be team principal for a MotoGP team, possibly run Ipswich Witches AND have an involvement in Formula 1 ? - Today

Trust me he isn’t, he isn’t looking for land and he isn’t trying to get back into monmore, we contacted entain ourselves a month back and he wasn’t interested himself, I think if it was 20 years ago then maybe but I think he just too old now to do it all again and I say that in a kind way not to be derogatory -

If CVS could get things back up and running he would. I’ve not seen any indication he is no longer interested. -
What about Northampton?
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Because firstly CVS isn’t interested and it’s time he came out and said so and more importantly CVS has no say in anything about greyhounds, Mr Phillips does and is part of not only of the board of greyhound racing but is also part of speedway futures Ltd -
Not sure I believe that one either to be honest. We’ll see.
-
That’s 1 out of 14, although James is still a good rider, I don’t think your going to get another 13 of a similar standard.
-
Where on earth has the talk of Thorssell on a 4.5 average come from? he’s easily a heat leader in any team in the UK. Barmy.

Why ? I have my own opinion so don’t need to ask myself as I think I know 😊 -
100%. Cannot blame them... And it will be the most die hard fans that get impacted the most too... These fans are truly the life blood of the sport given the low numbers of regulars at most tracks, and many of them will plan their whole summer around their Speedway fixtures, eg. booking holidays, and planning other leisure pursuits... Your very best customers, and you are not treating them well... Not a great idea...

Going by the time some say it takes to get there if he is 20 mins away that must be about a mile down the road ... -
Same here. Light at the end of the tunnel after all of the frustration this winter.

Yes, just right to wipe the bum on

Mayfield didn't ruin the GP's. FIM Leftists did by diluting the product when exluding Russian's and then replacing them with bang average out of depth riders in a box ticking exercise.
-
….. and they wonder why riders sign elsewhere
-
What makes you think that? James Shanes has been announced as their first heat leader
